Nghe An people are waiting and expecting
(Baonghean.vn)- Folk songs, Vi Dam are specialties that cannot be found anywhere else except in the sunny and windy land of Nghe An. Not only Nghe An people but also in Ha Tinh people are waiting for the information that UNESCO is considering to honor the unique folk music form of Nghe An as an intangible heritage of humanity with pride. Nghe An Newspaper recorded some opinions of officials and people of Ha Tinh
Ms. Tran Thi Canh, Deputy Director of Nghi Xuan District Cultural and Sports Center:
When hearing the news through the media, people were very excited, supportive and welcomed it with a special joy. If they were registered, this would be a joy that cannot be fully expressed. Ha Tinh people always cherish and develop the folk songs of Nghe An. In Nghi Xuan district, we have introduced folk songs into schools since 1998. Up to now, it has covered all schools from kindergartens to primary and secondary schools. Cultural officers are also collecting, compiling and composing new lyrics for traditional folk songs.
In all cultural and artistic festivals, Vi and Dam folk songs have a place and are warmly welcomed by the people. Currently, Nghi Xuan district has 19 folk song clubs, and 14 folk artists have been honored in genres such as Ca Tru, Vi and Dam, Phuong Vai, Tro Kieu, etc. We believe that Vi and Dam folk songs of Nghe An will continue to develop and live forever.

Mr. Nguyen Trong Tuan, Xuan Giang commune, Nghi Xuan district, Ha Tinh: When hearing the news that we submitted the dossier for UNESCO recognition, I and many other people felt very proud because Nghe Tinh Vi and Dam folk songs are priceless products, a specialty that not every region has. I myself have loved folk songs since I was a child, in addition to the daily life, I always wondered how to revive folk songs. That is why I often find ways to explore and convert new works into folk songs and Vi and Dam melodies. I think that Nghe Tinh folk songs and Vi and Dam have had, are having and will have a strong vitality, lasting forever because this is the source of culture, the quintessence of the working people of Nghe An.
Folk artist Nguyen Ban (Ha Tinh):I used to teach in Viet Bac and then work in the cultural sector of Nghe Tinh province, and traveled to all the villages of Nghe An to collect folk songs and Vi Dam melodies. Our generations of artisans did not work on folk songs for the purpose of being recognized, but for the development of folk songs, passed down from generation to generation. When I heard that UNESCO would consider the application to honor the products of the working people of Nghe An, I felt as if I was being honored. The previous generations of musicians and folk artists would feel that their efforts had paid off. If we were honored, there would be nothing more wonderful, our folk products would be recognized and recognized by the world. However, we think that this unique specialty has long been honored among the masses, produced, nurtured and developed by the people.
