The Miss International 2014 pageant ended on the afternoon of November 11 in Tokyo, Japan, with the victory belonging to beauty Valerie Hernandez from Puerto Rico. Vietnam’s representative, Miss Ocean Dang Thu Thao, returned home empty-handed from the pageant.

Beating 72 other talented contestants, Valerie Hernandez was honored to be the second beauty from Puerto Rico to win the Miss International title. The beauty, who is 1m77 tall, has measurements of 86 - 60 - 91, and her confident performance on stage, also convinced the judges with her smart answers.
“Thinking about the Miss International title, I think it is not just a crown, not just a title, but one of the heaviest responsibilities. As Miss International, I want to send a message of love, peace and unity,” Valerie Hernandez answered in the question and answer session when asked by the organizers, “If you win the Miss International 2014 crown, what message do you want to send to the world?”
The first runner-up of this year's contest is Zuleika Suárez from Colombia, the second runner-up is Punika Kulsoontornrut from Thailand, the third runner-up is Victoria Tooby from England, and the fourth runner-up is Milla Romppanen from Finland.

Along with the Miss Universe, Miss World and Miss Supranational pageants, Miss International is one of the four largest beauty pageants in the world. It was first held in Long Beach, California in 1960, but since 1968, Japan has been the chosen country to host the pageant annually.
The contest aims to promote "Love for Peace and Inspire the World". Contestants will take on the role of ambassadors of peace and beauty, bringing gentleness, generosity, friendship, beauty, intelligence and great international sensitivity.
