Vietnamese beauty returns to compete in Miss Earth after 3-year hiatus

The copyright holder sending contestants is actively looking for candidates to represent the country at Miss Earth 2016 in the Philippines.

Miss Earth 2016 is scheduled to take place in October in Davao, Philippines with the participation of nearly 90 beauties from around the world.

The last time Vietnam had a representative in the contest was in 2012. Before that, many domestic beauties participated in the contest and achieved good results, such as: Truc Diem was chosen as Miss Fashion of Miss Earth 2007, Miss Diem Huong won the title of Miss Bikini and was named in the top 14 of Miss Earth 2010. Beauty Ha Anh competed in Miss Earth 2006, Phan Thi Mo competed in Miss Earth 2011.

In 2012, Miss Vietnam 2012 runner-up Hoang Anh was sent to participate in this contest but did not achieve any outstanding results. Three years later, the copyright holder of the contest in Vietnam failed to select a suitable candidate.

In 2007, Vietnam became the first country other than the Philippines to host a portion of the Miss Earth event. In 2010, Vietnam became the first country other than the Philippines to host Miss Earth. To date, only Vietnam and Austria have hosted Miss Earth outside the Philippines.

Miss Earth is an international beauty pageant that has been held since 2001. The program is organized by the Carousel Productions Corporation of the Philippines. This is considered the third largest beauty pageant in the world, in terms of the number of contestants from participating countries, after Miss World and Miss Universe.

Miss Earth contestants will participate in many competitions and activities to protect the living environment. The main titles of the contest include: Miss Earth, Miss Air (1st Runner-up), Miss Water (2nd Runner-up), Miss Fire (3rd Runner-up).

During the past 15 seasons, the Philippines has achieved the best results with three winners in 2008, 2014, and 2015. Venezuela ranked second with two winners in 2005 and 2013.
