(Baonghean) - That is Mr. Lo Van Tuyen, head of the Don village farmers' association, Chau Hoi commune (Quy Chau). For more than 8 years, working as an officer of the village farmers' association, he has always been enthusiastic and dedicated to his work, uniting all member families to help each other develop the economy, eliminate hunger, and reduce poverty...

Like many other farming families, the main source of income for Mr. Lo Van Tuyen's family is farming with 6 members and 2 workers. Despite great efforts, life still cannot escape poverty. As the pillar of the family, he cannot help but worry and struggle to improve the situation and improve the quality of life for himself?

In 2005, grasping the Party and State's policies on agricultural and rural development in the renovation period, he discussed with his wife and children and decided to borrow 15 million VND from his brothers and friends to invest in land reclamation for livestock and crop farming in the Pa Bia area (3 km from home). Up to now, his family has not only escaped poverty but also has food and savings...

Mr. Tuyen has successfully built the VACR model, covering an area of nearly 7 hectares, including a buffalo, cow, pig breeding area, a fish farming area and a rice growing area. He also received over 30 hectares of forest land to protect and preserve. Of which, 7 hectares are planted with hybrid acacia that is ready for harvest.

Talking about business, Mr. Tuyen said: “Every year, my family raises and sells 3 litters of pigs, with 20 pigs/litter, along with a herd of 24 breeding buffaloes and cows. Every year, we sell a few calves, 2 young goats and nearly 200 kg of chickens and commercial fish, earning nearly 90 million VND. I also take advantage of the surplus garden area and hillside land to grow crops such as vegetables and beans, bringing in an income of nearly ten million VND each year...”.

As the head of the village farmers' association, Mr. Tuyen mobilized many members with good economic conditions to help poor members by lending them interest-free business capital, seeds, and livestock. He himself also helped a poor member's family with a calf and a young goat (non-refundable) as capital. To date, the family that received the help, Mr. Vi Van Ba, has escaped poverty.

Speaking about Lo Van Tuyen, Ms. Sam Thi Hoe, President of the Farmers’ Association of Chau Hoi Commune, confided: “Mr. Tuyen has a sociable lifestyle and is willing to share difficulties with his neighbors. Thanks to that, the number of poor households in Don village has now decreased to 40%. For many years, his family has been recognized by the People’s Committee of Chau Hoi Commune as a “good farmer”!
