(Baonghean.vn) -People in the two villages of O O and Gia Hop in Tuong Son commune (Anh Son) always show their respect and love for Mr. Luong Van Thuy whenever they mention him. As the Party cell secretary (the two villages share a party cell), Mr. Thuy always has the awareness to take the lead and set an example in all work for people to learn and follow.

Mr. Luong Van Thuy was born in 1962. Since childhood, his parents have invested in his education. During those years, he was the only one in the village who was able to finish high school. After finishing his studies, he joined the army and joined the Party. After returning to his hometown, he was really troubled by the difficult life of his village and his fellow countrymen, where hunger and poverty were constantly threatening.

After taking the trouble to find out, he realized that the cause of poverty was due to the limited level of awareness and science and technology of the local people, along with the heavy burden of relying on others. Therefore, Luong Van Thuy believed that to change people's lives, they must first change their awareness. But to make them believe what he said, he must first make them see his work with their own eyes.

Mr. Luong Van Thuy takes care of the pigs.

Having received a basic education and having the opportunity to go out and broaden his horizons, he decided to start building his family's economy. First, he mobilized capital to develop livestock and poultry. At one point, his family's herd of cows and pigs numbered in the dozens, and his flock of chickens numbered in the hundreds. When the livestock and poultry grew steadily, Luong Van Thuy continued to dig ponds to raise fish.

Taking advantage of streams and wastelands, he turned them into rows of ponds full of fish all year round, ensuring daily food sources, supplying the market and bringing in a fairly large income. For low-yield fields that can only grow one rice crop, he boldly brought in new varieties to grow both crops for high yield. For long-term fields, the soil has become infertile due to erosion and leaching, his family invested in planting acacia trees as raw materials. Thanks to that, the family's income has increased, approximately 100 million VND per year.

Seeing Mr. Luong Van Thuy's family boldly invest and do business effectively, people from the two villages of O O and Gia Hop came to their house to learn farming and livestock raising techniques. He enthusiastically guided the people through each step. Listening to and following Mr. Thuy, many households were able to borrow capital to do business, initially escaping poverty and having food and savings.

Luong Van Thuy's reputation grew, and he was elected by the Gia Hop villagers as the Village Chief. Later, he was elected as the Secretary of the O O-Gia Hop Party Cell. In recent years, the lives of the villagers here have faced many difficulties, so in addition to mobilizing the development of economic models, he also mobilized the villagers to create conditions for their children to study. His children all finished high school, some became Village Chiefs, some became Youth Union Branch Secretaries, and all worked hard.

The village had not yet invested in building an electricity grid system. After many petitions but not receiving timely attention, he immediately mobilized people to contribute money and labor to build it. At first, the mobilization was very difficult, because many households were still in difficult circumstances, and the mentality of waiting and relying on the government had not completely disappeared. Thanks to his perseverance, he finally succeeded in mobilizing to bring electricity to the village. Early this spring, the village had electricity, everyone was happy and remembered the merit of Secretary Luong Van Thuy.

O O and Gia Hop villages are remote areas, bordering neighboring communes and districts, so the security and order situation is quite complicated. In particular, some bad guys take advantage of limited awareness and difficult lives to lure and entice people into doing illegal things. Faced with that situation, Mr. Thuy went to each household to propagate, mobilize, and clearly explain the bad guys' plots so that people would no longer listen to them. Seeing that what he said was reasonable and emotional, everyone listened to him and respected him more.

Talking to us, Secretary Luong Van Thuy still had concerns: “Life has changed for the better, but compared to the average of the whole commune, the life of the people in the two villages of O O and Gia Hop is still low. The people are in dire need of loans to develop production and training to improve their scientific and technical skills.”
