During 10 years of fishing and seafood exploitation, Mr. Tran Dinh Anh realized that the need for development of means and profession of fishermen is increasing. In 2009, Mr. Anh boldly mortgaged his red book to borrow capital from the Agricultural Bank and borrowed from brothers and friends, along with the small capital he had saved to invest more than 10 billion VND to buy premises and proceed to build a new facility to build, repair and convert boats. When the facility went into operation, he encountered many difficulties in terms of management skills, production organization, professional experience, weak machinery and equipment... But with determination and passion for the profession, he went to shipbuilding facilities in and outside the province to learn and gain more experience in management and production organization. Along with that, Mr. Anh contacted and asked for the ship model design software of Nha Trang University of Fisheries for further reference. With a factory area of nearly 4,000m2, he decided to invest in more machinery and equipment and increase the production scale. The workforce is increasingly skilled, combined with the boat model designed by his own hands to suit the needs of fishermen, along with the motto of putting quality first, so the products of the facility are always highly appreciated by customers, having a foothold in the market. On average, each year, the facility builds 8-10 new boats with a capacity of 250-750 CV with a value of tens of billions of VND. Mr. Tran Dinh Anh said: "From the reality of being a person participating in production at sea, seeing the development needs and difficulties of fishermen, I also built the idea and determined to establish a facility to build, convert and repair boats for fishermen. Up to now, after 5 years of operation, the facility has been able to meet most of the needs of people participating in offshore fishing".
In particular, in the first 6 months of 2014, he and his team completed and launched 3 ships with a capacity of over 800 horsepower, including a wooden boat of up to 1,020 horsepower. This is the largest fishing boat in Nghe An province to date. It is expected that by the end of 2014, the facility will complete 2-3 ships with a capacity of 1,000 - 1,100 horsepower with a total value of 22 billion VND. In addition to building new ships, every year Mr. Anh also organizes the repair and conversion of 100 - 150 old ships. The development of his shipbuilding facility has created stable jobs for 22 workers inside and outside the district with an income of 8.5 million VND/month/person. On average, each year, Mr. Anh's family earns from 600 million to 1 billion VND. In addition to economic development, Mr. Anh also actively participates in social charity work. From 2012 to now, the facility has allocated 19 million VND from profits to contribute to the construction of rural roads, supported 9 million VND to purchase secondary school facilities, local cultural activities such as festivals, football, etc., helped cover 30-50% of the costs for boats and ships that have accidents when they come to his facility for repair, and supported 93 million VND for cases of accidents at sea due to loss of vehicles. In the first 6 months of 2014, the facility also registered to give 2 gifts to families with preferential policies and supported 100% of the contributions for 2 secondary school students with especially difficult circumstances in the 2014-2015 school year. Mr. Nguyen Dang Tai - Vice Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Hoang Mai Town said: "Mr. Tran Dinh Anh is a dynamic and creative person. His shipbuilding facility has helped fishermen in the commune feel secure to stay at sea and exploit seafood. Not only does he build ships for Quynh Lap fishermen, he also repairs and builds ships for fishermen in other localities. He is a person who is truly dedicated to his profession, responsible for his work, and takes customers as the center of his service."
With his very effective economic development in recent years, Mr. Tran Dinh Anh is worthy of the title of a good farmer and business household at the central level. He is a shining example, a typical example for members of the Farmers' Association in Quynh Lap commune and the whole Hoang Mai town to learn and follow.
