Queen Mother Tang is in charge of design, engineering and manufacturing, and oversees Ford's $100 billion annual spending.

On May 22, US media reported that Ford's board of directors restructured the company's leadership team. New CEO Jim Hackett, after taking office, changed a number of senior personnel, with the hope of reforming and bringing Ford back to growth.

Ford is running short on several product lines, leading the American automaker to enter into a partnership with GM to address the problem. As a result, Hackett has appointed a new person to the position of Ford global product manager, Hau Thai Tang, who will have full leadership in the design, engineering and manufacturing of new models to market.

Queen Mother Tang introduces the 2013 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500.

Tang Thai Hau is of Vietnamese descent. He was the chief engineer of the 2005 Mustang, reviving the car with his own retro styling, pressuring Chevrolet to launch the fifth-generation Camaro. Before that, he worked at the CART racing division, where the Lincoln LS was developed, and then became chief engineer of the Thunderbird line.

In addition, Tang Thai Hau was in charge of the SVT (Special Vehicle Team) branch, responsible for launching high-performance Ford models, and served as the executive director of global product programs and director of advanced product innovation.

After graduating and working at Ford in 1993, Tang Thai Hau served as a technical engineer for drivers Nigel Mansell and Mario Andretti in the Newman-Haas CART and IndyCar racing teams. He contributed significantly to Ford's 6 wins and 11 top 3 finishes.

At the time of the 2005 Ford Mustang's debut, Queen Mother Tang told the Los Angeles Times that she had seen her first Mustang while in Saigon. A white Mach 1 Mustang. Queen Mother Tang was a 5-year-old boy at the time.

"The car really left a deep impression on me, with its long wheelbase and air intakes on the hood. It has a very distinctive muscular look," said Queen Tang.

The Vietnamese man is currently the Global Product Director of Ford.

Coming to the US in 1975, he received a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Mellon University and a master's degree from the University of Michigan. After graduating, Tang Thai Hau worked as an engineer at Ford and bought his first car, a Mustang.

He has more than 25 years of experience in product development, and recently left his position as Vice President of Global Product Development. He was also a key player in Alan Mulally's famous "One Ford" plan.

In the eight years from 2007 to 2015, Ford has reduced its global vehicle lineup from 27 to nine, and is on its way to eight.

In 2001, the Automotive Hall of Fame awarded Empress Dowager Tang the Young Leader and Excellence Award.

In addition to his role as Ford's global product manager, he also serves as vice president of global purchasing. The job may sound boring, but Ford itself points out that Tang is responsible for managing the company's $100 billion in annual spending. Automotive Supply Chain magazine even named him Purchasing Manager of the Year.
