Workers across the country will soon have the opportunity to enjoy a four-day holiday.

According to Notice 6150/TB-BLDTBXH, on the occasion of National Day September 2, 2025, workers in Vietnam, including both public and private sectors, will have at least 2 days off, with the public sector having up to 4 consecutive days off.

This morning, July 2, 2025, information from Notice 6150/TB-BLDTBXH was officially announced, regulating the National Day holiday schedule on September 2, 2025 for cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers.

Accordingly, in 2025, workers will enjoy a special holiday on the occasion of National Day, with the following specific schedule:

Holiday schedule for officials, civil servants and public employees

Officials, civil servants and public employees will have 4 consecutive days off from Saturday, August 30, 2025 to Tuesday, September 2, 2025 (solar calendar).

Of which, 2 days are National Day holidays (September 1 and 2), combined with 2 weekly days off (Saturday and Sunday).

Agencies and units that do not apply a fixed Saturday and Sunday holiday schedule will adjust their holiday schedule to suit their unit's operating plan.

Holiday schedule for private sector

For employees in the private sector, the number of days off will be decided by the employer, but must ensure a minimum of 2 days as prescribed, including:

  • Monday, September 1, 2025 and Tuesday, September 2, 2025.
  • Or Tuesday, September 2, 2025 and Wednesday, September 3, 2025.

Employers need to notify employees of specific holiday schedules at least 30 days before the holiday takes place, ensuring careful preparation.

Regulations on compensatory leave and overtime

According to Clause 3, Article 111 and Clause 1, Article 112 of the 2019 Labor Code, if the weekly day off coincides with the holiday on September 2, 2025, employees will be given compensatory leave on the next working day.

In case of having to work on holidays, employees will receive increased wages according to Article 98 of the 2019 Labor Code:

  • Day:
    • 300% overtime pay on holidays.
    • 100% of regular wages.
    • Total at least 400% salary for overtime.
  • Night:
    • 300% overtime pay on holidays.
    • 100% of regular wages.
    • 30% overtime pay at night.
    • 60% overtime pay at night.
    • Total at least 490% of salary for overtime.
