(Baonghean) - Her husband was seriously ill, the family had to sell all their assets and borrow money everywhere for treatment, but her husband's life was still not saved; then her son was paralyzed, had a congenital heart defect, and a damaged lung, and the provincial hospital sent him home... That was the heartbreaking situation of the family of Mrs. Nguyen Thi Tam (born in 1967 in Hamlet 1, Thanh Huong Commune, Thanh Chuong District).

Mọi sinh hoat cá nhân của Ánh đều phải có mẹ phục vụ.
All of Anh's personal activities must be served by her mother.

We went to her house and witnessed a miserable situation. She told us in tears about her deceased husband: “He had liver cancer. I sold all the pigs, chickens, buffalos, cows, borrowed money from brothers, relatives and the bank, and took him to the Oncology Hospital for treatment. I had two children, one paralyzed, the other young, so I had to leave them at home with the neighbors, then run back and forth to take care of the children at home and take care of my husband at the hospital. For two years, it was like that, but in July 2013, he still left me and my children and disappeared...”. The man who was the pillar of the family had to leave, but she was currently burdened with a debt of nearly 50 million VND and had to worry about the lives of two young, sick children.

Mrs. Nguyen Thi Tam has 4 children, the eldest daughter works as a factory worker in Thai Binh and got married far from home, the second son is married but has no job so the couple moves to Vinh to work for hire to make a living. The third son, Nguyen Van Anh (born in 1991), is paralyzed all over his body and his arms and legs are atrophied, the back area on the rib area is deeply curved and bulging, causing Anh's body to be cramped, all day long he is on a rickety wooden bed placed near the kitchen, Anh cannot do any personal activities by himself. Every day, Mrs. Tam gets up at cockcrow, prepares meals, cleans Anh, then rides her rickety bike 4 times, comes back to take her youngest child to school (4 km from home) and then returns to the fields and gardens. Having a leaky mitral valve, Mrs. Tam was advised by Ba Lan Hospital on a treatment plan, but because of the "burden", she has to "forget" her illness to take care of her 2 children. Many days she fainted in the field, the neighbors had to gather to take her home. However, what Mrs. Tam worried about most was that Anh might have difficulty breathing when she was away. Because of her congenitally enlarged heart and a damaged lung, Anh was not healthy enough for surgery. In November 2013, the provincial hospital sent her home because they could not save her. Recently, at least twice she had to hire a taxi and medical staff to take Anh to the provincial hospital for emergency treatment, luckily she arrived in time.

Hopefully, the community will pay attention to the situation of Mrs. Tam's family and join hands to share so that she can reduce her burden of worries...
