Young mother goes to prison after giving birth, her shirt soaked with milk
(Baonghean.vn) - Just after giving birth, Vy Thi Hong (Tuong Duong) had to go to court to receive her sentence. Her face was bowed, not daring to look at her relatives, her thick coat soaked with milk made the people attending the trial both angry and sympathetic.
On October 10, 2019, the People's Court of Nghe An province brought the case of "illegal drug trafficking" to trial against the two defendants Vy Thi Hong (born in 1984; residing in Luong Minh commune, Tuong Duong district, Nghe An) and Ho Duc Quynh (born in 1998; residing in Tien Canh commune, Tien Phuoc district, Quang Nam).

According to the indictment: On February 24, 2019, a man named Nhat (residing in Nui Thanh district, Quang Nam), whom Hong knew through social networks but whose background is unknown, called Vy Thi Hong and asked her to buy him 1 cake and 2 sticks of heroin. Hong immediately agreed and went to Dua village, Luong Minh commune (Tuong Duong) to find a Lao man and asked to buy it for Nhat for 200 million VND.
After finding the goods, Hong immediately called Nhat and offered to pay 205 million VND for the "goods", of which Hong would keep 5 million VND as wages. As soon as Nhat agreed, Hong immediately made an appointment to meet the Laotian man and took the goods, hid them in a bush on the side of the road nearby.
Previously, around June 2018, Ho Duc Quynh met Nhat. Knowing that Quynh was in debt, Nhat immediately asked Quynh to go to the North to get drugs for Nhat and then pay Quynh 20 million VND to pay off the debt. Quynh immediately agreed.
On February 26, 2019, Nhat made an appointment with Quynh in Tam Ky city, Quang Nam province, then gave Quynh a black plastic bag saying that inside there was 205 million VND and told her to go to Tuong Duong district to meet Ms. Hong, Nhat would take care of everything.
At around 11:00 a.m. on February 27, 2019, Quynh arrived at Hoa Binh town, Tuong Duong district, and contacted Nhat's phone number to pick up the goods. At this time, Hong asked her husband to take her to Hoa Binh town to have a pregnancy check-up. On the way, Hong used the excuse of going to the bathroom to tell her husband to stop the car, walk 50 meters away to get the bag of goods, and wait for Quynh to come.
Upon arrival, Quynh took the money and said: "Mr. Nhat has paid 205 million VND, where are Mr. Nhat's goods?". After the exchange, Hong took the money and kept 5 million VND for medical examination and personal shopping. Ho Duc Quynh then took a taxi to go downstream. When passing through Yen Thanh, Nghe An province, he was checked by the district police and caught red-handed on the spot.
Through examination, the bag Ho Duc Quynh was carrying contained 1 cake and 1 package of white powder, both of which were drugs, weighing 420.295 grams.
At the trial, the panel of judges determined that the actions of the two defendants were extremely dangerous to society and needed to be severely punished. However, considering that both defendants confessed honestly, had not completed their education, had poor awareness, and did not understand the harmful effects of drugs, they decided to sentence Ho Duc Quynh to 20 years in prison and Vy Thi Hong to 18 years in prison for the crime of "illegal drug trafficking".
As for Vy Thi Hong, because she is raising a child under 36 months old, she will be released on bail after the child care period prescribed by law expires.
