(Baonghean) -The martial arts movement in Nghe An province was officially established and developed in 1989 in Vinh city, with Nhat Nam traditional martial arts classes. Originating from this martial arts school, many talented martial arts masters, coaches, and fighters have emerged in Nghe An, competing with high achievements at the national and regional levels, including coach Nguyen Cong Minh.
At the age of 15, Nguyen Cong Minh was passionate about learning Nhat Nam martial arts - a traditional Vietnamese martial art originating from the Thanh - Nghe - Tinh region. When Nghe An's professional martial arts village was formed, Nguyen Cong Minh was among the first athletes selected to compete in traditional martial arts and pencat silat at the national level. At the 1994 National Sports Festival, he brought home a Bronze Medal, while the province's martial arts achievements had not been affirmed much before that!
He was also a national referee in Sanshou. While his talented classmates continued to compete and became martial artists and coaches for other sports in Nghe An, he chose a different path. That is to focus on building the Nhat Nam martial arts movement, with the noble goal of preserving and developing the quintessence of martial arts as an identity of Vietnamese culture, especially when the head teacher of the martial arts school, Master Ngo Xuan Binh, has been building and developing the school in many countries around the world.
Although for a long time before, about more than ten years, Nhat Nam martial arts school had been developing very poorly, Nguyen Cong Minh did not mind the difficulties, quietly and persistently opened classes and built martial arts clubs. From 2008 to now, he has opened classes for many different groups. There are clubs for children at the Viet Duc Children's Cultural House, SOS Children's Village in Vinh City, primary schools..., there are clubs for students at Vinh University, Vinh University of Technical Education, and recently the Military Zone 4 Museum Club.

Once a high school IT teacher, but with his passion and devotion to Nhat Nam sect, Nguyen Cong Minh decided to quit teaching IT to focus on researching and teaching traditional martial arts. Over the past 4 years, the number of martial arts students he has directly trained has reached more than 700 people who have been and are enthusiastically practicing at the clubs.
Recognizing the Nhat Nam martial arts as a "specialty" of the traditional culture of the Vietnamese people from ancient times that needs to be passed on to the next generation and remembering the advice of the head teacher Ngo Xuan Binh, in addition to building and expanding the training movement, coach Nguyen Cong Minh himself contacted and organized to send students to perform at many forums and cultural events from the provincial to the national level. From the event commemorating the Ngoc Hoi and Dong Da victories of Emperor Quang Trung held at Quyet Mountain, Vinh City, to the Con Son and Kiep Bac Festivals in Chi Linh - Hai Duong, to the 1000th anniversary of Thang Long - Hanoi... the students of the Nhat Nam Club, which he is the head of, performed many outstanding martial arts performances. Master Nguyen Cong Minh is also the author and speaker of the "Hung ca dat Viet" presented at the 1000th anniversary of Thang Long - Hanoi.
In Vinh City there are more than 700 people practicing Nhat Nam martial arts.
He is currently a member of the Steering Committee for the establishment of the Nhat Nam Vietnam Martial Arts Federation. Master Nguyen Cong Minh hopes that the relevant authorities will be responsible for supporting the activities of the Nhat Nam sect, so that this sect can be expanded more and more.
Every day, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., at Vinh University Clubs and Vinh Technical Pedagogical University, martial artist Nguyen Cong Minh enters Nhat Nam martial arts training, teaching students the secrets of physical training, self-defense skills and spiritual nourishment of national martial arts - Vietnam's traditional martial arts that is being researched by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to be included in the list of nominations for UNESCO recognition as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity.
