"If I wanted to be famous, I would join the talent show The X Factor. It's amazing to think that the most powerful man in the world pressed the wrong button. I'm waiting for an apology call from the White House," Theresa Scrivener said yesterday after US President Donald Trump tweeted criticism for mistaking her Twitter account for that of British Prime Minister Theresa May, according to AFP.

Ms Scrivener, 41, lives in the seaside town of Bognor Regis, 55 miles southwest of London. Her Twitter account, created in 2009, is @theresamay, using her middle name. Meanwhile, Prime Minister May's account is @theresa_may.

In a tweet sent by mistake on November 29, Mr. Trump asked Prime Minister May to focus on domestic issues after she criticized him for retweeting an anti-Islam tweet posted by Jayda Fransen, deputy leader of the far-right Britain First party.

The erroneous tweet was quickly deleted, but Scrivener’s account had only six followers and her few posts did not escape media attention. She received calls from media outlets around the world when she woke up on the morning of November 30.

"He needs to think before he tweets. We - Theresa May and I - are very different. Our profiles are completely different. She runs the country and I am a mum in Bognor. I hope I have said my part and will be left alone."

Scrivener, who has 116 followers on Twitter, said she has received a lot of support, including from Americans, who apologized for Trump's actions.
