Vietnamese people all over the world are bustling to celebrate the traditional New Year.
(Baonghean.vn) - Tet is coming, Spring is coming, not only people in the country but also Vietnamese communities around the world are bustling, eagerly welcoming the new year with many different ways of expression, but all are looking towards the homeland, the land of ancestors.
1. Vietnamese people in Finland welcome the warm Lunar New Year 2018

The Vietnamese Embassy in Finland organized a celebration for the Lunar New Year 2018 for overseas Vietnamese living, working and studying in Finland.
The ceremony took place solemnly and warmly with the enthusiastic participation of all officers and staff of the Embassy and family members, many relatives and students from Finnish localities, and Finnish brides and grooms.
Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Pham Thi Ngoc Bich informed the people about the country's socio-economic development achievements, the development of relations between the two countries in the past year and some activities of the embassy as well as the community on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Finland.

On the days leading up to the traditional New Year, the Vietnamese Embassy in Egypt organized a Chung cake wrapping ceremony for the Vietnamese community here to gather together.
Everyone's faces were happy and especially overseas Vietnamese families brought their children to attend to understand more about Tet customs, to be more proud and preserve those beautiful traditional cultural features, as well as to foster solidarity and unity among those living far away from home in the land of the Pyramids.

In the jubilant atmosphere of welcoming the new spring, overseas Vietnamese in Bangkok coordinated with the Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand to organize a meeting to welcome the new year.
Speaking at the meeting, on behalf of the Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand, Ambassador Nguyen Hai Bang sent his best New Year wishes to all overseas Vietnamese. The Ambassador highly appreciated the activities of overseas Vietnamese in Thailand in general and Bangkok in particular in the past year.

Although each person has a different way of celebrating Tet in different circumstances and conditions, all Vietnamese people in the US as well as around the world turn to their homeland with the best feelings and wishes for the new year.

About 700 Vietnamese people living in the capital city of Prague, Czech Republic and surrounding areas attended a Gala Night to Welcome the New Year of the Dog 2018 to meet, share, enjoy the special flavors of spring, and turn to their homeland.
Leaving behind the worries of life abroad, Vietnamese people in the Czech Republic have the opportunity to meet each other at the end of the year to enjoy the traditional Tet atmosphere. Without anyone telling them, they all feel nostalgic and emotional remembering the traditional customs of their nation and want to preserve that beauty for future generations.
6. Peach blossoms in the Sahara desert and Vietnamese people welcome Spring

For the Vietnamese community abroad, especially in the Sahara desert in Egypt, where there is only sand and sunshine, having a peach blossom branch to celebrate Tet is really difficult, but everyone tries to find one to ease their homesickness.
Knowing that Vietnamese traditional Tet often has peach blossoms decorated in the house with the wish for a new spring full of vitality and joy, Mr. Ismail, the owner of the peach garden, agreed to cut some peach branches with good shape, many flowers and young leaves.
In the middle of the white sand desert and burning sun, getting lost in the peach garden makes everyone feel like they are lost in the Nhat Tan peach garden, making Tet feel warmer and lessening the nostalgia for home and family.
7. Vietnamese community in Myanmar joyfully welcomes the Lunar New Year 2018

In Yangon city, Myanmar, the Vietnamese Embassy in Myanmar coordinated with businesses and the Vietnamese community in Myanmar to organize the Community Tet Welcome Spring 2018.
The Community Tet Welcomes Spring 2018 was held in a warm and intimate atmosphere like that of family members. Guests attending the Community Tet also enjoyed many dishes with the traditional flavors of Vietnamese Tet such as pho, nem, gio cha and banh chung.
8. Vietnamese people in Bangladesh celebrate Tet reunion

Joining in the Tet atmosphere of overseas Vietnamese around the world, the Vietnamese Embassy in Bangladesh solemnly organized a Tet Reunion meeting for the Vietnamese community living, studying and working in Bangladesh.
The Vietnamese community in Bangladesh has about 100 people, mainly Vietnamese brides married to Bangladeshi and foreigners, officials, engineers working on information technology projects, infrastructure construction and international students.
9. Vietnamese community in Cambodia celebrates the New Year of the Dog

In the atmosphere of the whole country and Vietnamese communities around the world welcoming the New Year, the Vietnamese Embassy in Cambodia solemnly held a year-end ceremony to welcome the New Year of the Dog 2018.
In the joyful and exciting atmosphere of welcoming the Spring, delegates enjoyed special performances, including those praising the Vietnam-Cambodia relationship; and wished each other a new year of peace, prosperity, happiness and success.

In order to bring a joyful, exciting, united atmosphere, and a sense of patriotism to the Vietnamese community living, studying and working in Russia, the Vietnamese Embassy, the Vietnamese Association in Russia and INCENTRA Company jointly organized the art program "Welcome to Mau Tuat Spring" with the theme "Celebrating the Party, Celebrating Spring".
The performances brought many emotions to the people during these last days of the year, when everyone has a hometown with relatives, friends and the desire to gather together to celebrate the traditional New Year.

The Consulate General of Vietnam in Vancouver, Canada organized Tet for the overseas Vietnamese community in the Western provinces of Canada.
In the warm atmosphere of the Spring celebration party, distinguished guests and local people had the opportunity to enjoy the rich flavors of their homeland in some Vietnamese dishes during Tet as well as a special cultural and dance program with the participation of famous singer Thanh Ngan from Vietnam and music and dance groups of the local Vietnamese community.

The Vietnamese Embassy in Tokyo and the Vietnamese Consulate General in Fukuoka simultaneously organized a community Tet celebration for a large number of overseas Vietnamese living, studying and working across Japan.
At traditional Tet celebrations, people have the opportunity to enjoy special performances about the homeland by artists from the Youth Theater as well as traditional dishes full of Tet flavor such as banh chung, nem ran, gio lua, xoi vo...
13. Vietnamese people in Türkiye joyfully welcome the New Year of the Dog 2018

In Ankara, Türkiye, the Vietnamese Embassy in Türkiye organized a community Tet program on the occasion of the Mau Tuat Spring Festival 2018. Attending the community Tet were many overseas Vietnamese and Vietnamese students working, living and studying all over Turkey, sharing joy with the Embassy staff and their families and enjoying traditional Vietnamese dishes and special traditional performances.
On the occasion of welcoming the Lunar New Year, Ambassador Pham Anh Tuan sent warm New Year wishes to the Vietnamese community in Türkiye, hoping that the community will continue to preserve national identity, contribute to the country and foster the good friendship between the people of Vietnam and Turkey.

For more than 5 years now, every traditional Vietnamese Lunar New Year has been an occasion for the Paris City Hall to become a beloved meeting place for Vietnamese expatriates living around Paris in particular and throughout France in general.
The atmosphere of welcoming Tet this year at Paris City Hall was even more joyful as the ceremony took place right on the last days of the old year, at a time when in Vietnam, families were also living in the bustling moments before the New Year. The ceremony was solemnly organized by the Vietnamese Embassy in France and Paris City Hall.
