Vietnamese in France celebrate Buddha's birthday 2556
In the spirit of the 2012 Buddha's Birthday - Buddhist calendar 2556 taking place in Vietnam and many countries around the world, on May 5 (the 15th day of the fourth lunar month), at Truc Lam Zen Monastery, located in Villebon-sur-Yvette city, a suburb of Paris, France, the 2556 Buddha's Birthday was solemnly and dignifiedly held.
In the spirit of the 2012 Buddha's Birthday - Buddhist calendar 2556 taking place in Vietnam and many countries around the world, on May 5 (the 15th day of the fourth lunar month), at Truc Lam Zen Monastery, located in Villebon-sur-Yvette city, a suburb of Paris, France, the 2556 Buddha's Birthday was solemnly and dignifiedly held.
Also attending the ceremony were Vietnamese Ambassador to France Duong Chi Dung; Ambassador Duong Van Quang, Head of the Vietnamese Delegation to UNESCO; three Deputy Mayors of Villebon-sur-Yvette M. Alain Guyader, Mme Baron and Mr. Cinotti; Heads of Vietnamese representative agencies, along with a large number of staff from the Vietnamese Embassy in France, overseas Vietnamese, monks, nuns, Buddhists and people in the region and the Ile-de-France area.

At the ceremony, Venerable Thich Phuoc Duong, abbot of Truc Lam Pagoda, gave a speech highlighting the significance of Buddha's birthday and the contributions of Buddhists from all over the world. The Venerable explained to help Vietnamese Buddhists and French friends understand more deeply the "truth and origin of Buddha's birthday", with the hope of continuing to promote the tradition of great national unity, living a good life and following the religion, and actively participating in charitable and social activities.
In the joy of Buddha's birthday, delegates and Buddhists respectfully offered incense to Buddha and performed the traditional Buddha's birthday ceremony - "bathing Buddha" ceremony to pray for national peace, world peace, health for everyone and happiness for every family.
Talking to VNA reporters in France, many French friends, such as Ms. Joel Nguyen Duy Tan, a French Buddhist who has been taking refuge for several years, expressed their joy and satisfaction at being able to attend this year's Buddha's Birthday. She said that going to the pagoda has become a need for her and her husband, Mr. Nguyen Duy Tan, to express gratitude and respect to their ancestors. Every time she goes to the pagoda, in addition to praying for health, luck and happiness for her family, she finds peace of mind and peace of mind.
Also at the ceremony, Venerable Thich Phuoc Duong called on the Buddhist community here, along with the Buddhist community around the world, to "actively demonstrate the Buddha's love, spread compassion and forgiveness to everyone to ease suffering, dissolve hatred, greed and jealousy to bring a peaceful and happy life to sentient beings around the world."./.
