Risk of insecurity at Khe Ran suspension bridge (Con Cuong)
(Baonghean) - Khe Ran suspension bridge in Bong Khe commune was built in April 2011, with the Nghe An Department of Transport as the investor with a total value of over 12 billion VND, undertaken by General Department 4 Mechanical and Construction Joint Stock Company with a width of 2.5m and a length of 200m.
This project is part of the Tra Lan Town construction project in Con Cuong district. The bridge facilitates the convenient travel of 154 households in Khe Ran village and people from neighboring communes such as Thach Ngan, Mau Duc, Tam Son commune, Anh Son district. However, the bridge has now been seriously degraded.
According to observations, the wooden planks of the bridge and the bridge press have rotted in many places, with some sections of rotten wood creating holes nearly 15cm wide, becoming "traps" for passersby. The iron bars pressing the planks have fallen off nails, causing the planks to shift, making it slippery for motorbikes to pass through during the rainy season. In addition, some sections of the iron railings on the bridge are also bent. The bridge is weak, with a large number of people and goods passing through, making the deterioration even worse. To ensure the passage of vehicles, the local government used wood to replace the old planks, but due to the poor quality of the wood, it was damaged in the rain and sun. Day after day, people cross the bridge in fear, the risk of traffic accidents is very high. It is known that the province has a repair plan, but because Bong Khe commune has not paid the road maintenance fee, there is no money for repair.
Currently, people in Khe Ran village, Bong Khe commune, Con Cuong are facing danger when crossing the suspension bridge over Lam river. We request that authorities at all levels and functional agencies soon have a repair plan to ensure the safety of the people, especially when the rainy and stormy season is approaching.
