Former Minister Truong Dinh Tuyen urged Japanese enterprises to invest in Nghe An.
(Baonghean.vn) - Assessing that Japanese enterprises' investment capital in Nghe An is still very modest, former Minister of Trade Truong Dinh Tuyen urged businessmen from the land of cherry blossoms to invest in the North Central region, which has the largest natural area (16,500 km2) and the fourth largest population (over 3.2 million people) in the country.
The above opinion of Mr. Truong Dinh Tuyen was given at the Conference "Meeting Nghe An - Japan" in Vinh City, Nghe An. This is the first conference organized by Nghe An Provincial People's Committee in coordination with the Embassy of Japan in Vietnam.

Mr. Truong Dinh Tuyen, former Secretary of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee, assessed that Nghe An's investment environment has been increasingly improved with the province's high determination. Nghe An province chose 2019 as the year of administrative reform.
Along with that, the former Minister of Trade of Vietnam also said that Nghe An has a relatively complete infrastructure system, including large domestic and foreign investors in industrial park infrastructure.
In the near future, the North-South expressway, including the Hanoi-Vinh section, will begin construction, and if the North-South expressway is built, one of the first sections to be built will also be the Hanoi-Vinh section. “Thus, in the future, Nghe An’s infrastructure conditions will be even better. That is extremely important,” he analyzed.
In particular, the person who is considered as “Mr. WTO” of Vietnam acknowledged that Nghe An is proud to be a place with abundant human resources, very high quality, hard-working, studious, hard-working, mature very quickly and recognized by many experts and investors at home and abroad. “Those are very strong factors of Nghe An”, Mr. Tuyen said.
Besides, in terms of historical factors, Nghe An and Japan have a traditional friendly relationship, the foundation of which was established by Phan Boi Chau and doctor Asaba Sakitaro in the early 20th century.
With all the above factors, what makes Mr. Truong Dinh Tuyen worried is that the investment capital from Japan and Nghe An is still too modest. Currently, in Nghe An, there are only 7 Japanese investment projects with a total capital of 72.19 million USD in the fields of limestone mining, food, garment...
Meanwhile, over the past 30 years, Japan has always been Vietnam's leading economic partner, the largest partner in ODA, second in FDI investment, third in tourism and fourth in trade exchange.
Notably, Japan returned to the top position among countries and territories investing in Vietnam in 2017 and 2018 with total FDI values of 9.1 billion USD and 8.6 billion USD, respectively.
In recent surveys by the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), most Japanese enterprises are optimistic and intend to expand their investment and business activities in Vietnam.

"Thereby creating a basic premise to attract many foreign investors, including many Japanese investors, to Nghe An," he said.
In 2018, Nghe An's Provincial Competitiveness Index (PCI) ranked 19th out of 63 provinces and cities; up 2 places compared to 2017 and the highest position ever.
Nghe An's Provincial Governance and Public Administration Performance Index (PAPI) has gradually risen from 46th place in 2013 to 21st place nationwide in 2017 and in 2018, it has made a strong increase, ranking 4th out of 63 provinces and cities nationwide.
This is the result of efforts in leadership and management, especially in administrative procedure reform of Nghe An.
