Around 11pm that day, before dumping the body, Tuong asked to have Ms. Huyen's motorbike scratched to create a fake traffic accident. Responding to the lawyer, Tuong said that the two strangers were Mai's friends, the intermediaries who acted as mediators between the beauty salon and the victim.
At the end of the trial on the afternoon of December 4, defendant Dao Quang Khanh revealed a detail that shocked many people. After Ms. Huyen died, Khanh and some employees of the beauty salon sat at a coffee shop discussing staging a traffic accident to "legitimize" Ms. Huyen's death.
According to the indictment, Nguyen Manh Tuong was prosecuted for the crimes of "violating corpses, graves, and remains" as prescribed in Clause 2, Article 246 of the Penal Code and the crime of "violating regulations on medical examination, treatment, drug production, drug dispensing or other medical services" as prescribed in Clause 3, Article 242 of the Penal Code.
Defendant Dao Quang Khanh, a security guard at Cat Tuong Beauty Salon, was prosecuted for two crimes: "violating corpses, graves, and remains" as prescribed in Clause 2, Article 246 and "theft of property" as prescribed in Clause 1, Article 138 of the Penal Code.
At 9:17 a.m., attorney Gia Truong questioned witness Cong and defendant Khanh. Both of them confirmed that defendant Tuong carried the victim Huyen's body. However, in court, defendant Tuong said something that was not true.
Next, defendant Khanh and witness Cong affirmed that defendant Tuong closed the car door when the victim Huyen's body was already in the car. Defendant Tuong again affirmed that he did not close the car door.
The victim's lawyer continued to question Tuong and the staff about the purpose of bringing Ms. Huyen's body to the hospital. Mai's testimony said that the purpose was to negotiate with the victim's family. However, lawyer Gia Truong asked: "The evidence of Ms. Huyen and at Cat Tuong beauty salon was destroyed, even the documents were forged, what basis is there to negotiate, at least we should have presented pictures to prove it to the family".

Faced with this barrage of questions, Tuong continued to deny knowing or giving any instructions. Tuong said that when he arrived at the hospital gate, he still hesitated to bring the body in because he was afraid. "There were a lot of people around, and the defendant was afraid that if he brought a body in, everyone would definitely shout."
Next, defendant Khanh stated that during the time Ms. Huyen died, he received instructions from Mai and Tram to find the victim's receipt and bring it back. "The defendant and Ms. Mai went to buy a new receipt to make a fake one, but later postponed doing so," Khanh said.
The Chief Attorney continued to question the defendants and witness Mai about the act of cleaning up furniture, removing cameras, destroying hard drives... in Cat Tuong beauty salon to hide evidence. Mai admitted that she had directed the staff but followed Tuong's orders. "I am an employee, why would I have to do that if it was not Tuong's orders. At that time, Tuong was a doctor but did wrong, we have no obligations or rights in that matter," Mai said.
Defendant Tuong completely denied the above statement and said that during the emergency, the staff cleaned up the belongings.
The lawyer argued: "The employees were ordered by Tuong and Mai to throw things everywhere. Mai said Tuong ordered it, Tuong said he didn't know. There is only one truth, so how do Tuong and Mai explain it?" Defendant Mai turned to Tuong and said: "I am very surprised why Tuong blamed the employees, the security guard and me. I am just the person directly managing the human resources, you are the boss and you must take responsibility."
At 10:22, the interrogation ended and the prosecution moved on to the prosecution's indictment. The representative of the People's Procuracy presented the indictment, according to which Nguyen Manh Tuong was prosecuted for the crimes of "violating corpses, graves, and remains" as prescribed in Clause 2, Article 246 of the Penal Code and the crime of "violating regulations on medical examination, treatment, drug production, drug dispensing, or other medical services" as prescribed in Clause 3, Article 242 of the Penal Code. Combining both crimes, the court sentenced defendant Tuong to 17-19 years in prison.
Defendant Khanh was under the age of majority when he committed the crime, so the sentence for the above two crimes is 48-60 months in prison.
Previously, the representative of the People's Procuracy holding the right to prosecute in court stated the opinion of the case: In court, it was found that the defendant Tuong's testimony was not sincere, did not admit that the reason for Ms. Huyen's death was caused by the defendant, but the defendant admitted to liposuction, breast augmentation, and dumping Ms. Huyen's body in the river. As for Khanh, this defendant admitted that he and Tuong dumped the body. Before that, when he learned that Ms. Huyen had died, Khanh went into the room to get the iPhone.
Based on the statements of the defendants and witnesses, related obligated persons, physical evidence, and other documents, it is found that defendant Tuong did not admit to the blood test, the blood clot that resulted in Ms. Huyen's death. Considering that Nguyen Manh Tuong performed liposuction and breast augmentation when he was not qualified to operate, violating the crime of Violating regulations on medical examination and treatment....
In particular, the defendants’ act of throwing bodies has caused outrage in public opinion, negatively affected the medical sector… so it needs to be dealt with strictly. However, defendant Tuong himself has no criminal record, has many medals, his father was exposed to toxic chemicals… Regarding the amount of compensation, the defendant did not personally influence his family to remedy the situation, so he is not entitled to this mitigating circumstance.
Defendant Khanh was a minor when he committed the crime, so we request that a partial reduction be considered. The representative of the People's Procuracy requested that the panel sentence defendant Tuong to 13-14 years in prison for violating regulations on medical examination and treatment...; 4-5 years in prison for violating corpses and graves. In total, the defendant must serve a total sentence of 17-19 years in prison.
Defendant Khanh was sentenced to 18-24 months in prison for theft of property; 30-36 months in prison for desecration of corpses and graves. The total sentence is 48-60 months in prison. It is recommended that defendant Tuong pay civil liability compensation of 69 million VND and provide child support of 2 million VND/month for the victim's child until he is 18 years old.
