(Baonghean)With his achievements in recent years, Nguyen Viet Nga deserves to be the only representative of Nghe An to participate in the ceremony to honor 70 poor children who have overcome difficulties nationwide in 2012 organized by the Central Youth Union and the Central Council of Young Pioneers last July in Hanoi...

Born in 2001 in a poor family in Nghia Dong commune (Tan Ky), Nga's parents are both farmers, her eldest brother is currently in college, her second sister is in high school but has congenital heart disease. As a farmer, all expenses depend on a few fields, rice grains, and potatoes. She saves money to send her eldest brother to study in the city, and saves up for medicine for her sister, so Nga suffers a lot of disadvantages compared to her peers. There are few school years when Nga gets to have new clothes made or buy new books and backpacks. Nga "inherited" all those old things from her aunt's son who is one grade above her. For her, being able to go to school is already a blessing.

In the village and commune, there are many poor but studious examples. Nga's parents always use that to educate and advise their children to study hard. Obedient to her parents, for 5 consecutive years, Nga was an excellent student at Nghia Dong Primary School. She has a special talent for English and Mathematics. For two consecutive years (grades 3 and 4), Nga surpassed hundreds of competitors to win the district's first prize in the Violympic Mathematics contest and the provincial English second prize. In the 2011-2012 school year, Nga won the provincial-level second prize in Mathematics for Children and the district's second prize in English. Nga's overall score for 5 years of primary school was 10.

Not only is Nga a good student, she is also an active and resourceful team leader, a model class monitor, and an excellent artist of the school. In particular, Nga has a talent for singing bilingual English-Vietnamese songs very well. Her family is poor and has no money to buy a computer, so Nga takes advantage of solving Math and English problems online at school; in her free time, she asks her father to take her to her aunt's house to practice more. Nga saves her bonus from being an excellent student at an Internet cafe to solve Math and English problems online.

“I am very proud to be in Hanoi to attend the commendation ceremony. This is the first time I have visited Uncle Ho’s mausoleum and the capital city, I am very happy. I promise to study hard, work hard, and be worthy of being “a good child, a good student, a good grandchild of Uncle Ho”, Nga shared.
