President Zelensky said earlier that he had a phone call with Russian leader Putin about the situation in Donbass and asked to "influence the other side", referring to the DNR and LNR.
This comes after the deaths of four Ukrainian servicemen in Donbass. According to Kiev, the cause was fire from the DNR and LNR, although Donetsk and Lugansk have denied their involvement.
President Zelensky, in a telephone conversation with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron, called on the leaders of the “Norman Four” countries to urgently convene to agree on the next steps aimed at reaching a final solution to the conflict in Donbass.
"The Ukrainian government is persistently seeking to end this war and I believe it is a very bold move on the part of the Ukrainian leadership to call President Putin and other leaders of the Normandy Four to convene a meeting to discuss ending the fighting, when many Ukrainian servicemen are suffering continuous casualties," Mr. Taylor said.
