Bacon is the world’s oldest food, invented by Chinese chefs. It is so popular and loved that even churches have been built to express their love for this delicious dish.

Bacon is one of the most popular foods in the world. Although it is a salty food, you can find it in ice cream, baked goods, and even chewing gum. In addition, bacon candles and bacon-flavored lip balm are also popular items.

Although a popular dish in the West, China was the first to create bacon. It is also the oldest processed meat in the world, dating back to more than 3,000 years ago.

As bacon spread westward, the Romans called it “petaso,” meaning pork boiled with salt and seasoned with pepper sauce.

The word “bacon” comes from the German word “bak”, which means pork loin. The French then borrowed the word “bakko” and changed it to “bacco”. In the 12th century, the English continued to borrow the French word and called it “bacoun”. Over time, “bacoun” was shortened to “bacon”, which means smoked meat.

The first bacon factory was established in 1770. Initially, local farmers and butchers made bacon for local consumption, curing the meat with salt and smoking it. It wasn’t until the late 18th century that an English businessman named John Harris opened a bacon factory in Wiltshire using a method that is still used today, which makes the meat less salty and sweeter to suit many people’s tastes.

“Bring home the bacon” is a saying that has been around for centuries. Today, it is often understood to mean “earn money so you can buy bacon,” but the original phrase had nothing to do with money. In 12th-century England, when a man married a woman, they would swear this oath before God, meaning they would be submissive and caring for their spouse forever. The man who “brought home the bacon” was considered a model husband and citizen.

The average American consumes 8 kg of bacon a year, and the high rate of cancer is believed to be caused by bacon. However, that does not diminish the love of Americans for this delicious dish.

The Church of Bacon is made up of 13,000 members who share a special love for bacon. The church has no permanent address but still hosts weddings and fundraisers, donating thousands of dollars to charity each year.
