Chu Thuong Yem family temple receives national historical relic status

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of May 8, Yen Thanh District People's Committee coordinated with Hoa Thanh Commune and Chu family to organize a ceremony to receive the national historical relic of Chu Thuong Yem Church.

Chu family temple, in hamlet 1, Hoa Thanh commune, is located on a land with a long history and culture, is the place to worship the "First Ancestor" Chu Thuong Yem and the descendants of the Chu family. Chu Thuong Yem, alias Chat Phac Phu Quan, originally from Long An village, Hoang Truong commune, Dien Chau district, was born in the early 17th century in a well-off family, well-educated and well-educated.

Growing up in the context of the Trinh - Nguyen conflict, Chu Thuong Yem - a descendant of a family with a tradition of loyalty and patriotism to the Le dynasty, was no longer interested in the path of imperial examinations, and decided to move to the new land of Nam village (now hamlet 1, Hoa Thanh commune) to start a career and bring water to the fields.

Thanks to his intelligence, understanding, and talent in mobilizing and organizing production, more and more people from many places came here to live, the cultivated area was expanded, and people's lives became more prosperous. Along with agricultural production, he and his son Chu Thuong Son also opened a sugarcane growing and molasses-making business; from then on, the village had the additional name "Nuong Che" known in many places.

After his death, the people of Nam village honored him as a god and erected a memorial tablet to worship him at the main temple of the village, which has now been ranked as a national historical and architectural relic; his descendants built a temple to worship him. He became the first ancestor of the Chu family in Hoa Thanh commune and was granted a god title by the dynasties of Thanh Thai and Khai Dinh.

In addition to worshiping the first ancestor Chu Thuong Yem, the church is also a place to worship Chu Trac, Chu Van Bien... patriots, staunch communist soldiers, elected to hold many important positions in their homeland and country.

During the resistance war against France and the US, the church was also the place where meetings of the district committee took place, where weapons were hidden, where rallies were held, art performances were held, and generations of young people were sent off to join the resistance army; it was a place for spiritual and cultural activities, and a place to strengthen the affection of the children in the family. Here, many important ceremonies took place every year, maintained from generation to generation.

Receiving the relic is also to establish a scientific and legal basis, to preserve and promote the value of the relic in a sustainable and long-term manner, and at the same time, hoping that local leaders and descendants of the family will continue to do better in the work of protection and restoration, so that the relic will always be a place for spiritual and cultural activities, an address connecting generations to their roots, educating traditions for future generations./.
