According to the Nobel Prize Committee, writer Mo Yan, born in 1955, is a famous contemporary writer in many genres, including the famous novel "Red Sorghum" which was made into a film by director Zhang Yimou. His work is a combination of fantasy and reality, folk tales, history and social reality.

The 2012 Nobel Prize in Literature went to Chinese writer Mo Yan.

Mo Yan was born into a peasant family in Shandong Province and grew up working in an oil refinery. At the age of 20, he joined the army and began writing while on active duty. His writing style is considered quite complex, full of metaphors and often uses images to express ideas.

His works have been translated into many languages ​​around the world, including works that are familiar to Vietnamese readers such as "The Treasure of Life", "The Angry Garlic Tree", "Sandalwood Shape".../.
