Pride of Russia
On Saturday in Moscow, Mr. Putin presented state awards to Russian athletes who won gold medals at the Tokyo Olympics. The president called the Olympic team the pride of Russia.
"Dear friends, I look at the hall and see that you are all very strong, beautiful, graceful, young, successful, and that would be enough, but you are also smart and advanced in every way. I am very happy that you spoke about the country, about the Fatherland... At the beginning, I said serious words: you are the pride of Russia. I want to confirm this once again. It is true," Mr. Putin said after presenting state awards to Russian Olympic athletes.
