Thai King Approves General Prayuth Chan-ocha as Prime Minister
On August 25, Thai King Bhumibol Adulyadej approved the decision to appoint Army General Prayuth Chan-ocha as the country's Prime Minister, four days after the National Legislative Assembly (Parliament) voted to elect him in a move to pave the way for the formation of an interim government.

In a statement posted on the official website the same day, the "Royal Gazette" reported: "The King has approved General Prayuth as prime minister to lead the country from today." Mr. Prayuth is expected to attend the Royal approval ceremony at the army headquarters in Bangkok later in the day.
