Recognizing the early signs of uterine fibroids
Uterine fibroids are a very common condition in women of reproductive age, especially those over 35 and those with high estrogen levels, who have never given birth, or who have given birth late in life.
This is a benign condition that responds well to treatment if detected early. However, it can also cause many complications if detected and treated late.
The exact cause of uterine fibroids is unclear, but they are often associated with a sudden increase in estrogen levels. Uterine fibroids can be classified into three types: submucosal fibroids, intramural fibroids, and subserosal (peritoneal) fibroids. Uterine fibroids can be a single mass or multiple masses (multiple fibroids), varying in size from a few millimeters to tens of millimeters, sometimes occupying the entire abdominal cavity.

According to statistics, approximately 20% of women of childbearing age suffer from uterine fibroids. In many cases, fibroids develop silently without any symptoms. However, patients may experience some symptoms such as: prolonged or heavy menstrual bleeding, pelvic pain, back pain, constipation, frequent urination, anemia, fatigue, and paleness.
Diagnosis is based on a doctor's examination, combined with ultrasound, endoscopy, or hysterosalpingography. Depending on the location, uterine fibroids can affect a woman's pregnancy and childbirth to varying degrees, leading to difficulty conceiving, infertility, miscarriage, premature birth, difficult labor, abnormal fetal presentation, postpartum hemorrhage, etc.
Regarding diet, patients with uterine fibroids should eat green vegetables, tuna, mackerel, salmon, grains, turmeric, etc.; and limit their consumption of red meat.

In treatment, depending on the size and nature of the tumor, the doctor may prescribe medication or surgical intervention (surgical removal of the tumor or embolization of the blood vessels supplying the tumor...).
Regarding medication, doctors often prescribe non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and birth control pills to reduce symptoms; and anti-estrogen drugs to control tumor growth. However, long-term use of these medications can cause some side effects such as: hormonal imbalances, decreased libido, depression, etc.
