Replicating the model of growing passion flower for high income
(Baonghean.vn) - In recent years, the model of growing morning glory in Nam Anh (Nam Dan) has developed quite strongly, bringing high income to farmers. To bring morning glory from home gardens to field gardens, the commune has a policy to support people in building high-income field models... With only 3 sao of morning glory each year, Mr. Nguyen The Viet's family has an income of 45 million VND, twice as high as growing common vegetables. Mr. Viet said: Growing morning glory brings a very stable income, no matter how much is sold, it is mainly purchased by the main agents in the commune and traders at Vinh market.
Morning glory flowers bring high income to many people in Nam Anh commune.
The advantage of this vine is that it does not require much care, uses little pesticides, and can be harvested continuously, growing one crop and eating two crops (mostly in the dry season (from May to the end of May). The price of the flower is also good, ranging from 25-30 thousand/kg depending on the time, one sao also brings an income of 12-15 million/crop. Thanks to that, my family's life has improved a lot compared to before. Realizing the economic efficiency of growing the flower, Mr. Dinh Xuan Hung (village 8) also grows 2 sao of flowers.
He excitedly said that now, every three or five days, in the early morning, his family goes to the field to harvest the morning glory and sell it at 25,000 VND/kg in the field. Traders not only buy it in the provincial market but also import it to the Hanoi market. According to Mr. Nguyen Van Nam - Nam Anh Commune Agriculture Board, morning glory is considered a clean vegetable, increasingly favored by people, because of its delicious, sweet taste, nutrition and medicinal properties. Grasping the needs of consumers, many people in Nam Anh Commune have expanded the planting area. In 2012, people in the hamlets were able to grow 12 hectares of morning glory on high-altitude land, bringing in an economic value of over 300 million VND/ha. Currently, the area has expanded to 40 hectares, concentrated in hamlets 6, 7, 8, 9. It is expected that in 2013, the revenue from this crop of the commune will reach 10-15 billion VND.
Mr. Nguyen Van Sinh - Secretary and Chairman of Nam Anh Commune People's Committee said: The model of growing asparagus not only brings high profits to farmers but also creates stable jobs for many idle workers in rural areas. To create favorable conditions for people to expand and develop the model of growing asparagus, the Commune Agricultural Committee has strengthened coordination with functional departments to regularly organize vocational training and provide guidance on growing asparagus for farmers. The Commune's Steering Committee for New Rural Development supports 100% of the cost of seeds, 30% of the cost of materials and 100% of the cost of bringing electricity to the fields and continues to replicate this model in the direction of a high-income field model in the coming years.
