Japan has a special policy to attract talent.

High-quality human resources in Japan from the end of March 2017 are being considered to be able to obtain permanent residence after only one year of living in Japan. This is considered the shortest time in the world for foreigners to obtain permanent residence in a country. This is mentioned by the news site Yahoo Japan as "Japan is implementing semi-permanent residence to buy talent".

Previously, the time for a foreigner to apply for permanent residence in Japan was 10 years of living and working in Japan, but with this policy, foreigners classified as “high-quality human resources” (kodo jinzai) in Japan can apply for permanent residence after only 3 years. Special high-quality human resources can apply for permanent residence after only 1 year.

So in the future, there will be many talented foreigners who come to Japan to work and after only 1 year will be eligible to get permanent residency in Japan, living and settling down for a long time. As for ordinary workers, it will still take 10 years to apply for permanent residency as before.

Scoring for high quality human resources

High-quality human resources are evaluated using a point system based on education, age, income, Japanese language proficiency, work history, etc., to attract intellectual workers from all over the world, especially IT and medical workers, investors, and business managers.

Japan is gradually becoming an easier, more livable and more ideal destination for excellent foreign human resources around the world.

If the total score is 70 points or more, the foreigner is recognized as a “high-quality human resource” and can apply for permanent residence after 3 years of working in Japan. If the total score is 80 points or more, the foreigner can apply for permanent residence after 1 year in Japan.

It is worth noting that in addition to shortening the time to obtain permanent residency, high-quality human resources in Japan are increasingly given more priority to make their lives easier. If you are an ordinary worker in Japan, even if you have permanent residency, you cannot sponsor your parents to live in Japan, but high-quality human resources can.

A person who is a high-quality human resource with a certain income level can sponsor his/her parents or parents-in-law to come to Japan to live with him/her to take care of him/her and his/her young children, or sponsor a domestic worker from his/her own country to come. When his/her parents come to Japan, they will also enjoy the insurance and other benefits in Japan according to the system of that high-quality human resource.

In addition, high-quality human resources are also given priority when borrowing from banks, applying for visas or reviewing procedures at the immigration department.

It can be seen that with this move, Prime Minister Abe wants to turn Japan into an easier, more livable and more ideal destination for excellent foreign human resources around the world.

After Brexit – Britain left the EU, many foreign workers were facing the risk of having to leave the UK, but Japan raised its flag to invite them.

While Singapore - the dream destination of many foreigners - is implementing many policies to restrict immigration, Japan implements social welfare regimes for foreigners exactly like Japanese people. For example, foreigners in Japan still receive subsidies, can send their children to school and go to the hospital for free...

The only barrier for foreigners to live in Japan is language. If you know Japanese and are able to work in Japanese, Japan is truly a safe, peaceful, beautiful environment to live in, especially for the elderly and children.

Recently, Japan has tightened visa issuance for students from 5 countries including Vietnam, and at the same time, welcomed high-quality human resources to Japan. It can be seen that the Japanese Government is increasingly opening up to foreigners, and high-quality foreigners in the future will have more incentives to stabilize their lives in Japan.

Japan has long been a place where many Vietnamese people want to work and live, this news will certainly make many talented young people more interested in Japan.
