As of 11 p.m. on September 23, Binh Duong Provincial Police were still present at the tiger farm of Thai Binh Duong Company, Noi Hoa Quarter, Binh An Ward, Di An Town (Binh Duong) to examine the scene where a captive tiger mauled a male employee to death while he was feeding the tiger in the cage.

The company's tiger cage is close to people's houses.

According to initial investigation, at 4:00 p.m. the same day, Mr. Luong Van Hai (40 years old, from Thai Binh) fed a tiger weighing about 120 kg in its cage as usual. Suddenly, Mr. Hai was mauled to death by the tigress.

Mr. Luong Thien Dan, representative of Thai Binh Duong Company (victim's cousin), said that Mr. Hai has been working as a tiger caretaker here for 20 years. On normal days, Mr. Hai still feeds the tigers and is very familiar with them. However, today, due to negligence and for unknown reasons, the tiger mauled Hai to death.

According to Mr. Dan, the company will immediately take care of all funeral expenses, bring the victim's body back to his hometown for funeral arrangements and support the victim's family.

According to the Forest Protection Department of Binh Duong province, there are currently 3 units allowed to pilot tiger breeding in the province, including: Pacific Beer Company (Di An), Thanh Canh tourist area (Thuan An) and Dai Nam tourist area (Thu Dau Mot).

In 2009, a tiger at the Pacific Brewery Company’s farm escaped from its cage and ran into a neighboring house. Fortunately, the tiger did not attack anyone and was later herded back into its cage.

Previously, a tiger at Dai Nam tourist area jumped over a 3m high partition equipped with electric shocks, attacking three zoo employees who were planting trees. One person was bitten to death by the tiger.
