Japan: 13 people died due to snowstorm
A massive snowstorm that swept through Tokyo and other parts of Japan over the weekend killed 13 people and injured nearly 1,700 others, NHK reported.
According to NHK news agency, in Fukuyama city, Hiroshima prefecture, western Japan, a taxi plunged into a lake, killing the 68-year-old driver. Police suspect the driver lost control of the car due to icy roads.

In Nagakute City, Aichi Prefecture, central Japan, a 50-year-old man died after his car crashed into an iron sign placed on the sidewalk.
A 78-year-old man in Ichikawa City, Chiba Prefecture, near Tokyo, died after slipping and falling while clearing snow.
A total of 6,155 accidents involving cars skidding on icy roads were recorded in 36 prefectures and cities in Japan.
More than 1,800 homes in Ibaraki, Fukushima and Miyagi prefectures are still without power.
