Japan is considering a plan that would require all new buildings and homes to be equipped with solar panels by 2030, the Nikkei newspaper reported.

The plan is intended to demonstrate Japan's determination to encourage technological innovation and promote the widespread use of renewable energy sources.

Japanese Prime Minister Naoto Kan said that installing these solar panels will help Japan achieve its goals of increasing renewable energy and energy conservation.

Meanwhile, the governors of 19 prefectures in Japan and Softbank Chairman Masayoshi Son said on May 25 that these 19 prefectures will participate in a project run by Softbank to build solar power plants and reduce Japan's dependence on nuclear energy in the cherry blossom country.
