On the afternoon of August 14, Japan will hold a temporary meeting to review and decide on the content of the draft statement commemorating the 70th anniversary of the end of the war.

After the draft is approved, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe will announce and personally explain the purpose of developing this draft.

The most notable point in the draft is that the Japanese Government wants to send a message to all Japanese people that it will continue on the path of building a peaceful nation, actively contributing to the prosperous development of the international community.

Previously, on the occasion of the 50th and 60th anniversaries of the end of the war, Prime Minister Murayama and Prime Minister Koizumi at that time also announced a draft stating Japan's views on historical issues and used the word "review" to review what Japan had done during the war.

And this time, on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the end of the war, public opinion will focus on the issue of Prime Minister Abe's historical perception regarding whether to use the phrases "colonial rule and invasion" and "apology" or not?

Previously, in a statement, Prime Minister Abe emphasized that: “Japan wants to send a message to the world that, with the chosen path and the review of what happened before, specifically during World War II, from now on, what kind of country Japan will become. This is what is important.”

The draft was released simultaneously in English and Japanese, and is expected to be released in Chinese and Korean just a few days later.
