Japan awards Medal to former Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Khiem

Former Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Khiem was awarded the Order of the Rising Sun, first class, by Japan for his contributions to the strategic partnership between the two countries.

Yesterday afternoon, June 11 in Hanoi, the Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam, on behalf of the Emperor, awarded the Order of the Rising Sun, first class, to former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam Pham Gia Khiem.

Attending the ceremony were Vietnamese Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh, former Deputy Prime Minister Vu Khoan, former Chairman of the National Assembly's Foreign Affairs Committee Vu Mao, representatives of central departments and branches, the Vietnam - Japan Friendship Parliamentarians' Group...

Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Tanidaki highly appreciated the contributions of Comrade Pham Gia Khiem in his position as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam to building the foundation and comprehensively developing the Vietnam - Japan strategic partnership.

Former Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Vietnam Pham Gia Khiem thanked the State, Government and people of Japan for this noble award and expressed his belief that with the joint efforts and strivings of the Governments and peoples of the two countries, the strategic partnership between Vietnam and Japan will continue to develop more comprehensively, deeply and substantially, especially in the context that the two countries will organize the Vietnam-Japan Friendship Year to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2013./.
