Japan, China hold joint exercises despite territorial issues
According to AFP, the coast guards of Japan and China participated in the exercise on August 5.

The three-day joint exercise, which began on August 5 in an area south of Tokyo, involved members of coast guard forces that have at times played a cat-and-mouse game in waters near the disputed Senkaku/Diaoyu Islands in the East China Sea.
This is the first time the joint exercise has taken place in Japan, following 2013 in Russia and 2012 in South Korea.
This annual exercise usually involves six countries: Japan, China, Russia, the US, South Korea and Canada./.
