Japan does not compromise with China on Senkaku sovereignty
AFP reported that Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda on September 26 affirmed that there could be no compromise with China on the issue of sovereignty over the disputed Senkaku island chain, which Beijing calls Diaoyu, in the East China Sea.
At the same time, he also condemned attacks against Japanese interests.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Mr. Noda said China had misunderstood the issues being discussed and asked nationalist protesters in China to stop attacking Japanese citizens and commercial interests in the country.
Previously, in a meeting on September 25, Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi met with his Japanese counterpart Koichiro Gemba on the sidelines of the 67th plenary session of the United Nations General Assembly taking place in New York (USA).
Speaking to the press, Mr. Gemba said the atmosphere of the meeting was "very bad." Before the meeting, which lasted about an hour, Foreign Minister Gemba wanted to convince China to accept Japan's nationalization of the uninhabited islands in the Diaoyu archipelago. However, the atmosphere of the meeting showed that it would be very difficult for Japan to achieve this goal./.
