Shabby Quynh Phuong sea dike

(Baonghean.vn) - Piles of garbage piled up on the Quynh Phuong sea dike (Hoang Mai town) are an alarming issue about the current state of environmental pollution.

Walking along the sea dike connecting Lach Con bridge to Quynh Phuong fishing port, it is easy to see piles of household waste gathered right on the sea dike; the stench is so strong that it pollutes the environment for hundreds of households living along the dike and tourists passing by.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hung in Quynh Dy ward said: "Every day we go down to the fishing port to buy seafood. Every time we pass by the Quynh Phuong sea dike, we are fed up with the sight of garbage "surrounding" and overflowing onto the sea dike. Many times, we have to take other roads to go, because if we go through here, we are afraid of being stuck due to garbage encroaching on the dike."

According to observations, there are nearly ten garbage collection points along the sea dike, mainly in the dike sections of Tan Hai, Hong Hai, Quang Trung... The above amount of garbage was collected by some local residents. After a while, the company's vehicles came to transport it to another place. However, with a large population and an increasing amount of household waste, the sea dike is always flooded with garbage.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa, a resident living along the sea dike, said that when it is sunny, the stench from the garbage is strong and there are a lot of flies and mosquitoes; but when it rains, the sea dike is full of wastewater, causing environmental pollution.

Talking with Mr. Ho Xuan Huong - Vice Chairman of Quynh Phuong Ward People's Committee, it is known that currently, the ward has signed a contract with Lan Hung Company in Quynh Luong Commune (Quynh Luu) to collect domestic waste in the area for transportation to other places. On average, each month, the company collects in residential areas 3 times, collects in the sea dike 6 times. However, due to the large population and the locality's seafood fishing profession, the amount of waste is large. Meanwhile, in the area, there is no more land fund to make a garbage collection point. Therefore, some people still have the habit of bringing garbage to the sea dike area, causing environmental pollution.

“We will take measures to rectify the situation of people dumping garbage haphazardly on the sea dyke, especially mobilizing the company's vehicles to collect waste in multiple batches, cleaning up the environment at the sea dyke from Lach Con bridge to the fishing port. At the same time, we will promote people's awareness of environmental protection,” Mr. Huong added./.
