Notably, more than 70% of patients with streptococcus suis are due to eating raw blood pudding and most patients are hospitalized late, making treatment difficult.

Dr. Nguyen Hong Ha also said that streptococcus suis is transmitted to humans through contact with infected pigs during the process of raising, slaughtering or eating raw blood pudding or undercooked pork. The incubation period for people infected with streptococcus suis is usually very short, only within 10-20 hours, which can be very dangerous to health. The main clinical manifestations of people when infected are high fever, headache, nausea, vomiting, tinnitus, stiff neck... In severe cases of meningitis, patients will have impaired consciousness, skin rash, nerve paralysis and kidney failure./.
