Many states in the US were seriously affected by snowstorms.

On December 8, a large snowstorm accompanied by hail hit many US states, causing traffic congestion, widespread power outages and seriously affecting people's lives.

According to the National Weather Service, the northeastern states of Virginia, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, and New Jersey are the areas directly affected by the storm.

In these states, heavy snow covers the streets, obstructing road traffic and increasing the risk of traffic accidents.

In southern Philadelphia, Delaware and southern New Jersey, snow piled up as deep as 30cm on the roads. Many businesses had to give workers the day off to avoid accidents while driving on slippery roads.

Snow and ice also covered large areas of Virginia and the capital Washington, leaving thousands of people without power and thousands of flights delayed.

The storm also affected a wide area from Texas to Wisconsin. In North Texas, the cold and snow also caused the cancellation of about 400 international flights at Dallas-Fort Worth, resulting in the stranding of more than 3,000 passengers at the airport.

The snowstorm has also forced the cancellation of several events, including a marathon expected to attract 25,000 runners in Dallas on December 8.

Meteorologists predict this severe weather phenomenon will last until December 9 and may spread into mid-week.

Meanwhile, Virginia Emergency Management Agency spokeswoman Laura Southard said this was considered one of the "most terrible" snowstorms in Virginia's history, paralyzing and seriously affecting people's lives.

Ms. Southard advised everyone to take precautions in these severe weather conditions.

The massive snowstorm isn't just hitting the eastern states of the US. A blizzard hit along the Utah-Arizona border, leaving about 300 vehicles stranded on the highway overnight on December 8.

About 25cm of snow and slippery road conditions forced the Arizona State Highway Administration to close part of the highway between the two states.

Previously, on November 26, a snowstorm also raged in the western United States, causing at least 10 traffic accidents that killed more than 10 people in the states of Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico and California.

Strong winds and snow showers also occurred across the United States on November 26 and 27, the two busiest travel days of the year as people return home to prepare for Thanksgiving.
