Many sewers are discharged at full capacity to prevent flooding.
(Baonghean.vn) - Due to the widespread heavy rain, on September 26 and 27, many drainage culverts in the province were discharged at full capacity to prevent flooding.

At this time, Dien Thanh drainage,(Dien Chau), workers are on duty operating. Mr. Nguyen Duc Hanh - Director of Dien Chau Irrigation Enterprise said: Dien Thanh drainage culvert mainly drains floods for Dien Chau and Yen Thanh districts. Since 2019, this drainage culvert has been upgraded so it operates smoothly, there is no longer a situation of water hyacinth stuck at the culvert gate.
On the morning of September 27, when the tide was low, the unit opened three sluice gates, each 19 meters wide, with a discharge level of nearly 600 m.3/s. At Dien Thuy sluice, Dien Ngoc commune, this morning all 3 sluice gates were discharged with a discharge level of over 100 m3/s, workers are actively salvaging water hyacinth right at the sluice gate.

At Nghi Quang sluice gate (Nghi Loc) since the morning of September 27, water has been discharged at full capacity. Mr. Hoang Van Huong - Station Chief of the Station said: Nghi Quang sluice gate discharges floodwaters for Nghi Loc district, Hung Nguyen, Vinh city and part of Nam Dan district.
The sluice has 13 electrically operated gates, all fully raised with a discharge capacity of over 300 m3/s. Current difficulties, Nghi Quang sluice gate currently has many degraded items, such as the gate valve system is broken, causing limitations in operation.

At the same time, Binh Son drainage culvert in Quynh Hung commune and culvert 4B in Quynh Thanh commune, Quynh Luu district are discharging at a level of 30-35 m.3/s, the two above culverts drain floodwaters for the communes of Quynh Thach, Quynh Hong, Quynh Van, Quynh Ba. Currently, the Binh Son culvert area is covered with water hyacinth, making it very difficult to drain floodwaters. Workers at Binh Son culvert have to take turns to salvage water hyacinths right at the mouth of this culvert.
A representative of Nghe An Fisheries Department said: Nghe An currently has about 20 large and small drainage systems, such as Nghi Quang three-way sluice, Ben Thuy three-way sluice, Thuong Xa sluice, Nghi Xa sluice, Dien Thanh and Dien Thuy drainage sluices... Currently, only Dien Thanh sluice has been upgraded, the rest are mostly degraded and difficult to operate during the rainy season.

At this time, the Irrigation Department directed irrigation units and workers to stick to the area, be on duty 24/7, discharge water according to the motto "clearing the tide, draining waterlogging"; monitor the water level so that the discharge process does not let salt water intrude./.
