(Baonghean.vn) -At the 5th session of the Nghe An Provincial People's Council, the issue of religion, especially the incident of some priests of Quan Lang Parish illegally proselytizing in Yen Khe Commune (Con Cuong), received special attention from many delegates, who had dedicated opinions on the management of religion at the grassroots level and solutions for party members in religious areas to come down to the parishioners more.

- Delegate Le Van Tri (Anh Son) said: He himself is a local Catholic, and also works in state management, and sees that religious management at the grassroots level still has many shortcomings. That is, it is necessary to detect early illegal proselytizing places to prevent them early, avoiding unfortunate incidents. The long-standing illegal proselytizing of many priests has led to many Catholics not following. Catholics are listening to the Father, not to God. God does not teach his flock like that. There needs to be a corridor for cadres and party members of religious areas to go down to Catholics to propagate the policies of the Party and the State.

- Delegate Nguyen Van Huy (Anh Son): Regarding the stability of the religious situation: It is necessary to soon launch a One-Stop Center to resolve religious issues as well as policies for officials working in religious affairs. Regarding the incident at Quan Lang parish: according to delegates from Anh Son district, there are still signs of complications. For the past week, the parishioners of Quan Lang parish have not been able to go to the fields to produce or do any business.

- Delegate Vi Xuan Giap (Con Cuong) said: The incident took place in a district, the problem has involved many districts in Do Luong, Anh Son and Con Cuong... For generations, the people of Con Cuong have not distinguished between ethnic groups or religions, but have lived together in solidarity, doing business and preserving the cultural identity of their people. The recent illegal proselytizing incident is regrettable. In the near future, the province needs to support localities when there are problems of law violations involving many districts. The local government will encourage people to live a good life and follow their religion, the Thai people do not need to follow religion if they do not want to.

- Delegate Lu Kim Duyen (Tuong Duong) also hopes that the Provincial People's Committee will report more clearly on the incident in Yen Khe, Con Cuong, and solutions to ensure a safe life for the people.

At the discussion at the Hall this morning, July 12, on behalf of the Provincial People's Committee, Comrade Le Xuan Dai - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee reported to the Council about the incident that occurred in Yen Khe, Con Cuong. Before the fact that the priest and parishioners in Anh Son had repeatedly gone to Mr. Pham The Tran's private house to preach against the law. The inappropriate preaching in Con Cuong has made the Con Cuong people dissatisfied. The report also affirmed: The praying at Mr. Pham The Tran's private house (Yen Khe, Con Cuong) by priests and parishioners from other places is an illegal act.

The report of the People's Committee of Nghe An province also stated the entire situation of the incident that occurred on July 1, 2012 in Yen Khe, Con Cuong and reaffirmed that there was absolutely no situation of police beating parishioners, but the People's Committee of Nghe An province and the Police protected the safety of the priests and more than 800 believers to return safely to Anh Son after the incident of causing disturbances and organizing illegal proselytizing in Yen Khe commune - Con Cuong on July 1, 2012.
