Many new points at the 2019 National Press Award on Party Building

Mr. Mai Van Chinh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Organizing Committee said that one of the notable new points of the National Press Award on Party building - the fourth Golden Hammer and Sickle Award (2019) is that the number and structure of the awards have expanded compared to the previous year.

Accordingly, the Organizing Committee of the 4th Golden Hammer and Sickle Awards (2019) will award 61 prizes to outstanding authors and works (an increase of one prize compared to 2018) to encourage authors to create works that contribute to protecting the Party's ideological foundation.

Specifically, this year's prize structure includes: 1 Special prize (VND 300 million), 5 A prizes (VND 100 million each), 10 B prizes (VND 75 million each), 15 C prizes (VND 50 million each) and 25 Encouragement prizes (VND 30 million each).

In addition, the fourth Golden Hammer and Sickle Award also has a number of subsidiary awards: Award for outstanding works developing theories on Party building; Award for outstanding works on protecting the Party's ideological foundation; Award for outstanding works by senior authors; Award for outstanding works by young authors; Award for outstanding works by authors who are Vietnamese citizens living abroad.

The award rules clearly define senior and young authors. Senior authors are those who are 70 years old or older (according to their ID card or original birth certificate). Young authors are those who are 22 years old or younger (according to their ID card or original birth certificate).

Each author or group of authors may only select one work that complies with the award rules to participate.

In addition, the consideration for collective awards this year has also changed. In addition to the press agencies and propaganda departments, the Party Committee's organizing committees are exemplary in participating in responding to the awards nationwide, this year's collective awards are also considered for awarding to journalist associations at all levels.

The press works participating in the 4th Golden Hammer and Sickle Award are works written about Party building work in terms of politics, ideology, organization, ethics; in the fields of organization, propaganda, inspection, mass mobilization, foreign affairs, anti-corruption... These works are published and broadcast on various types of press (print, radio, television, electronic newspapers, press photos) licensed by competent state agencies, during the period from November 1, 2018 to October 31, 2019.

Works considered for awards belong to one of the following categories: reflections, interviews, notes, comments, treatises, reports, memoirs, radio and television programs, documentaries, multimedia products, etc.

Entries should be sent to the Party Building Magazine (7th floor, Hapro Building, 11B Cat Linh, Quoc Tu Giam Ward, Dong Da, Hanoi). The deadline for receiving entries is November 10, 2019 (postmark). The announcement and award ceremony is expected to be held in Hanoi on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3, 1930 - February 3, 2020).

The Golden Hammer and Sickle Award is organized to continue affirming the important position and role of Party building work; thereby, creating more attention from cadres and Party members in the political system and the whole society for Party building work and building the political system.

The works participating in the award contribute to orienting information on new issues of public interest related to protecting the Party's ideological foundation, developing theories on Party building and practical work of Party building organization; fighting corruption, waste, and negativity; propagating new models, good practices, and typical examples in Party building work...

The National Press Award on Party Building - Golden Hammer and Sickle Award is an annual award organized by the Central Organizing Committee in coordination with Nhan Dan Newspaper, Communist Magazine, Vietnam Television and Vietnam Journalists Association since 2016.
