The driver deliberately installed a switch connecting the power source to the device to avoid inspection and supervision by authorities.

The Vietnam Road Administration (VRA) said that recently, there have been a number of serious traffic accidents involving passenger transport vehicles and container trucks across the country.

However, when the accident occurred, the vehicle tracking devices (GSHT) on these vehicles were turned off or not working, so they could not record data on the speed and condition of the vehicle before the accident. The cause was determined to be that many drivers deliberately installed switches connecting the power source to the device to avoid inspection and supervision by authorities when the vehicle violated the law.

To rectify this situation, the Vietnam Road Administration requested the Department of Transport of provinces and cities to direct transport businesses in the area, coordinate with the GSHT equipment supplier to review the entire number of devices installed on vehicles, ensuring that no additional switches or peripheral devices are installed to interfere with the operation of the equipment.

The Department of Transport shall coordinate with the units providing GSHT equipment to study measures to prevent interference in the operation of the equipment, and at the same time take strict measures to handle drivers who intentionally violate the law; vehicles shall not be arranged to participate in the transportation business when the GSHT equipment is broken and not working.

Arrange for staff to regularly monitor and exploit data on the information system to take corrective measures and promptly handle violations according to regulations, especially the act of not transmitting data to the General Department's information system. The Traffic Inspectorate needs to strengthen inspection and strictly handle cases of disconnecting the GSHT device during transport business activities./.
