Many streets are surrounded by electric wires
(Baonghean) - During a visit to Vietnam, billionaire Bill Gates took a photo of an electric pole covered with tangled wires and cables on the streets of Hanoi. The photo posted on his personal page surprised the online community. But in fact, for our people, the image of electric poles carrying bundles of wires, strung like spider webs across every street and road has become familiar.
In Vinh City, it is not difficult to see a tangled system of electric wires all over the roads. Everywhere you see electric poles with dozens of electric meter cabinets attached, carrying all kinds of wires: electricity, information and telecommunication cables strung in all directions, clinging to each other and hanging down like a hammock, dangerous for trucks on the road.
Phan Chu Trinh Street is a bustling multi-industry business and production street of the city. On both sides of this street are dozens of large electric wires bundled together and hung on each electric pole buried on the sidewalk. At intersections or alleys, this bundle of electric wires splits into hundreds of small strands, running back and forth to reach households using electricity. The bundle of large and small electric wires looks like a "bird net" overhead. In some places, electric wires hang from tree branches, climb over roofs and then hang horizontally in front of balconies. At the electric pole in alley 23, it seems that there is not enough space above, so the electric wires are wrapped into a large bundle at the base of the pole. Mr. Nguyen Thanh Long, a resident of this street, said: "These electric wires are probably too "outdated", and they are wrapped together so we are very afraid of short circuits and fires."
On Dang Thai Than Street, the tangled mess of electric wires is even greater. Large electric wires are bundled together and run along the road, some are stretched high up, some hang down low and are tangled like giant spider nests. Electric wires run close to the balconies of houses, and people "carelessly" use them as places to dry clothes! On other routes, electric wires become "climbing trellises" for wild plants...

In addition to the power transmission system, the dependence of the telephone line system, telecommunication cables and television cables has contributed to the current tangled network of layers and layers of electric wires. Although small, telephone wires grow rapidly and contribute daily to the "forest" of overhead electric wires. It is known that out of hundreds of telephone wires strung up there, only a few dozen still function to transmit information. Due to the development of the mobile phone system, many families have abandoned their landline phones. Even though they have cut off communication, the wires are still on the poles.
In addition, with the increasing number of people using computers connected to the network, the number of internet transmission lines on the electric poles is also increasing rapidly. Contributing to this "forest" of overhead power lines is also the cable TV line. It is known that there are currently two television service providers with the method of transmitting signals by cable, so like the internet, the number of television signal transmission lines is only increasing, not decreasing over time...
Obviously, the current state of tangled electrical wires greatly affects the urban landscape, the potential risk of fire and electrical accidents is very high. It is time for the authorities to include this type of "garbage in the sky" in the urban beautification program, and have a plan to manage the construction of electrical works. Along with that, planning and undergrounding the electrical wiring system in the city in a modern direction. Otherwise, in just a short time, the open spaces of Vinh City will be surrounded by this type of "garbage".
