Looking back at Mr. Trump's 5-country tour of Asia
(Baonghean.vn) - President Trump has completed his visits to five Asian countries, including Japan, South Korea, China, Vietnam and the Philippines. The five countries have many cultural differences, but one thing they have in common is that the people and leaders of the countries have warmly welcomed US President Donald Trump.
1. Japan

On his first day in Japan, US President Donald Trump met with the Japanese Prime Minister at the golf course that will be used for the 2020 Olympics. The two leaders changed clothes and had a light lunch of hamburgers, then both signed hats with the words "Donald and Shinzo will make the alliance between our two countries even better".
Trump and Abe discussed North Korea and trade, and played golf with Hideki Matsuyama, the world’s third-ranked golfer. A senior White House official said the two leaders had developed a close relationship since Trump took office in January.

In Tokyo, President Trump described Pyongyang’s nuclear and missile programs as a “threat to the civilized world and to international peace and stability.” After agreeing to sell US military equipment to Tokyo, Trump said Japan was ready to shoot any North Korean missile “out of the sky.”
President Trump also met with relatives of Japanese citizens abducted by North Korea and pledged to work with Prime Minister Abe to bring them back to Japan.
2. South Korea

In South Korea, President Trump also received a warm welcome from leaders and people. South Korean political parties on November 7 welcomed President Trump and called for increased cooperation between Seoul and Washington in addressing Pyongyang's escalating nuclear threats.
The two leaders held talks focusing on North Korea's nuclear threat and proposed revisions to the bilateral free trade agreement. President Trump welcomed Seoul's plans to purchase US military equipment, which would help narrow the US trade deficit with South Korea.

Also during Mr. Trump's visit, South Korean First Lady Kim Jung-sook personally prepared traditional dishes to invite US President Donald Trump and his wife Melania Trump during the tea party after the talks at the Blue House.
3. China

In China, President Trump and his wife were given a very warm welcome. Chinese Ambassador to the United States Cui Tiankai told reporters that US President Donald Trump's visit was "more than a state visit," with private interactions between the two heads of state, in addition to the usual welcoming ceremonies and official meetings.
After visiting the Forbidden City, on the evening of November 8, President Donald Trump and President Xi Jinping had dinner at Emperor Qianlong's Jianfu Palace, considered the most secretive of all palaces.
China also welcomed President Trump with a $9 billion trade deal. During Trump’s visit, the two countries ratified a total of 19 agreements in the fields of bioscience, aviation and smart manufacturing.

4. Vietnam

The Vietnamese people welcomed President Trump no less warmly than other Asian countries. When he arrived in Da Nang to attend the APEC Summit on the afternoon of November 10, there were many people on both sides of the road filming and taking pictures, some even holding banners calling him Angel.
In Da Nang, President Donald Trump mentioned the spirit of the Trung Sisters in his speech to thousands of delegates attending the APEC Summit.
“Around 40 AD, the Trung Sisters rose up against foreign invaders, awakening the faith of Vietnam. That was also the first time you stood up with national pride to fight against invasion,” he said. Mr. Trump also called on delegates to put the interests of their country first.

Upon arriving in Hanoi on the afternoon of November 11, President Trump immediately livestreamed the colorful and beautiful Nhat Tan Bridge, delighting many people. A large crowd of people lined up on both sides of the street at the Opera House and Trang Tien area, hoping to meet the President. Sitting in the second car, President Donald Trump waved to the people.
US President Donald Trump thanked the Vietnamese people before wrapping up his official visit to Hanoi. “I would like to thank the Vietnamese people for their warm welcome and reaffirm the friendship and cooperation between our two countries,” President Trump said at a press conference with President Tran Dai Quang on the morning of November 12.
5. Philippines

On November 12, US President Donald Trump arrived in the Philippines, the final stop on his 12-day Asia tour, to attend the 31st Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit and the East Asia Summit.
On the evening of November 12, President Trump attended a special reception to celebrate the 50th anniversary of ASEAN (1967 - 2017), hosted by President of the Republic of the Philippines Rodrigo Duterte at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City, Manila.

During the dinner, President Trump and his counterpart Duterte shook hands twice, clinked glasses of wine and chatted quite intimately with each other, before the leaders gathered for a group photo.
President Duterte even showed some respect for his American counterpart when he sang a song titled “IKaw” (“Friend”) at President Trump’s request. “Ladies and gentlemen, I will be doing a surprise duet with Ms. Pilita Corrales at the request of the Supreme Commander of the United States,” President Duterte said.
