(BNA) -This morning, August 29, Anh Son district (Nghe An) held a ceremony to open Cay Chanh bridge - the bridge that people in the left bank of Lam river have been waiting for for a long time. Putting Cay Chanh bridge across Lam river into use will connect the traffic between the left and right banks, creating a driving force to promote the socio-economic development of the left bank, and is an important premise for Anh Son to complete the goals and targets on infrastructure and regional economic development orientation set forth by the Resolution of the 19th District Party Congress...

Lam River overpass at Cay Chanh, Dinh Son commune (Anh Son) was approved by Nghe An Provincial People's Committee in Investment Decision No. 471/QD.UB dated January 28, 2003, with Anh Son District People's Committee as the investor. The bridge is 276 m long, including 8 spans, each span is 33 m long, 7.0 m wide, H30-XB80 load capacity, permanently designed with prestressed reinforced concrete. Being present at Cay Chanh bridge just a few days before the official inauguration of the bridge, we can see the excitement and enthusiasm of the people in the area who will benefit. Mr. Nguyen Viet Hong, hamlet 3, Dinh Son commune, could not hide his joy, saying: "Every day I carry 2 shipments of goods to the other side of the river. Not to mention the expensive ferry costs, every time I sit on the ferry, I am very worried about the safety of both people and goods, especially during the flood season. With the bridge, I no longer worry...!" Mr. Hong's happy mood is also the common mood of thousands of households in 4 communes on the left bank of Thanh Son, Binh Son, Tho Son, Tam Son of Anh Son district and many other neighboring residential areas in Con Cuong, Tan Ky, Quy Hop districts who trade on this route. In the days when there was no bridge, the only means of crossing the river was the ferry, which became a huge obstacle to the trade and socio-economic development of the four communes on the left bank as well as the direction of socio-economic development of the district for this area. Implementing the planning for the development of raw material areas, the four communes on the left bank have become the main concentrated sugarcane raw material areas with an area of nearly 1,000 hectares of standing sugarcane. In nearly 10 years since Song Lam Sugar Factory has been established in this land, there have been nearly 10 pressing seasons. The sugarcane on the left bank that people grow with difficulty, but when reaching the factory, they still have to go through unstable and difficult ferry trips. Every year, more than 40,000 tons of raw sugarcane (accounting for nearly 70% of the factory's pressing output) from the left bank have to be transported by ferry. The distance of the ferry is also the reason why the factory and the people are not really interested in developing the raw material area on the left bank.

With the opening of the Cay Chanh bridge across the Lam River, tens of thousands of tons of sugarcane from the left bank will go straight to the factory this pressing season. Song Lam Sugarcane Joint Stock Company is planning to consolidate and build sustainable left bank raw materials, bringing new varieties with high yield and sugar content to farmers. Mr. Dang Van Canh - Deputy Director of the Company, said: Putting the Cay Chanh bridge into use will create favorable conditions for the Company to invest in the left bank raw material area, meeting the raw material demand for the plan to increase the pressing capacity from 500 tons to 1,000 tons of sugarcane per day. Besides the sugarcane raw material area, the opening of the Cay Chanh bridge also supports the development of a 1,200-hectare paper raw material area, exploiting iron and manganese mineral resources in Tho Son commune, helping hundreds of high school students and people in 4 communes on the left bank no longer have to cross the ferry every day. Cay Chanh Bridge will be the connecting bridge to meet the transportation needs of vehicles from National Highway 7 to the communes on the left bank of Anh Son district and some communes of Con Cuong, Tan Ky, Quy Hop districts, contributing to the completion of the national defense route Trai Lat - Cay Chanh. From here, it will seamlessly connect inter-regional and inter-district traffic, connecting National Highway 7 with the left bank of Lam River, with Ho Chi Minh Road and National Highway 15 in Lat Town (Tan Ky)..., creating a driving force to awaken and effectively exploit the left bank potential of the districts that have not been fully exploited for a long time. On the other hand, the opening of the traffic route connecting National Highway 7 with the left bank communes at Cay Chanh is of extremely special importance, creating a practical basis for Anh Son to complete the targets and objectives of the Resolution of the 19th District Party Congress set out in the field of socio-economic infrastructure: completing the road to the sugarcane raw material area of Thung Bung, Tho Son; Connect and promote regional economic development, especially in the sugarcane - tea and paper raw material areas...

The actual implementation of the construction of the Cay Chanh bridge over Lam river, ensuring progress and quality, has shown the responsibility and management capacity of the district-level investor for a key project, helping the province gain more experience in assigning investment management roles, improving the investment efficiency of works and projects.
