(Baonghean) - Lang Yen Village (Mon Son Commune - Con Cuong) is located nearly 10km from the commune center, in the middle of a valley adjacent to Cao Veu (Phuc Son Commune - Anh Son), surrounded by high mountains, and surrounded by the Giang River and many streams, so for generations, Lang Yen has always been in a particularly difficult situation. The most difficult thing is the problem of transportation, because the roads are all divided by rivers and streams. Previously, from the commune center to Lang Yen, you had to go through 3 wooden bridges (2 over the Giang River, 1 over a large stream). These bridges were built by the villagers themselves, but when the rainy season comes, the water often rises and washes them away. To cross the rivers and streams, the villagers of Lang Yen now have to use bamboo rafts to row across. People going to the fields, to the fields, to the market, to the commune to transact all kinds of documents or students going to school all have to go on bamboo rafts swaying across the rushing water.

Yen Village currently has 183 households with more than 720 people, most of whom are Thai ethnic people. The main source of income of the village is wet rice production, slash-and-burn farming and planting raw material forests. The difficult traffic not only affects the people's travel but also limits the trading of goods. Normally, the agricultural products and raw wood of Yen Village are 2-3 times lower than the market price. The reason is that traders use the excuse of difficult traffic and expensive transportation costs to buy at cheaper prices to cover the costs.

This time returning to Yen Village, we clearly saw the excitement of the villagers when the new suspension bridge was put into use. Village chief Vi Van Tho excitedly said: “This bridge has just been put into use for less than a month, invested in and built by the General Department of Roads. The rainy season is coming, the villagers of Yen Village can feel more secure. The happiest are probably the students, because the road to school is safer. The transportation of agricultural products and goods is also more convenient, the villagers are also very happy and thank the government for caring about this remote village”.

Soon, in Mon Son and Lang Yen, there will be new bridges, economic and social life will improve, the face of the village will change...
