Remember Uncle Ho's words: Patriotic emulation

(Baonghean) -It has been 65 years since Uncle Ho wrote the Call for Patriotic Emulation (June 11, 1948), but until now that call is still valuable and relevant. The call for patriotic emulation that Uncle Ho specifically stated for each of our compatriots is forever the command of conscience, the responsibility for "scholars, farmers, workers, merchants, soldiers, men and women, old and young, all our people, regardless of their position or job, must strive to participate in the patriotic emulation".

Patriotic emulation is both the origin and the direction; both national and revolutionary; both theoretical and practical; both emotional and doctrinal. Because emulation is pouring oil into the lamp of life, and the ideology of emulation is to light it up. Emulation is to motivate the spirit, mobilize material, mobilize human and financial resources. If in wartime, to carry out the national resistance, comprehensive resistance, both resistance and nation building, to make "our position and strength change", then in peacetime, it is to build and promote internal strength to develop the economy, "self-sufficiency, self-sufficiency to catch up with others".

Patriotic emulation means to raise the passionate patriotism and political awareness of everyone. “Emulation is patriotism, patriotism requires emulation” to “eliminate hunger, ignorance, and foreign invaders. That is, to make people well-fed, warm, literate, and to make the Fatherland independent and free”. Thus, patriotic emulation inherits and promotes the heroic and indomitable tradition of the nation in the process of building and defending the country. Patriotic emulation has entered people’s hearts and transformed into great material strength.

Uncle Ho's advice on emulation movements: Emulation must have the right leadership. Before emulation, it is necessary to prepare fully (explain, encourage, carefully review the plan of each group, each person). During the emulation process, it is necessary to practically urge, help, and make amendments. After the emulation period, it is necessary to practically check and summarize, disseminate experiences, reward exemplary models, and support those who are incompetent. Based on the national and comprehensive nature of patriotic emulation, it is necessary to select typical, diverse, and rich faces: emulation heroes, emulation soldiers, exemplary cadres, advanced workers, excellent workers, etc. This is the product of the policy of promoting revolutionary heroism of the masses, aiming to "promote emulation more widely, making everyone, no matter what they do, compete to achieve greater achievements, every industry compete to progress more strongly, learn and train more heroes and soldiers".

Currently, we are continuing to deeply grasp and apply Uncle Ho's Call for Patriotic Emulation in the process of innovation and the cause of industrialization and modernization of the country, to arouse patriotism, the emulation efforts of one person with another, one family with another, one village with another, one industry with another... Through the forms of commendation and conferring the titles of heroes and emulation fighters, Uncle Ho's guidance on equal work and reporting achievements is the right direction in considering the emulation results of each individual and each group in a fair manner, not looking at and evaluating emulation results in a one-sided and emotional way. The key is to encourage emulation, ensure the substance of emulation, fight against formalism and false reporting in emulation, ensure that patriotic emulation is a sacred duty of society and the country, make emulation promote publicity, democracy, and voluntariness of the masses, not emulate in a formal way, not coercive, not narrow-minded, short-sighted.

We believe that: with the indomitable spirit and endless strength of the nation, with the patriotism and determination of our people, our country will become stronger and stronger; our nation will become more prosperous; our people will become happier because we have patriotic emulation according to Uncle Ho's ideology: "Absolutely loyal to the Party, to the Fatherland, to the people, must be truly united... Imbued with Uncle Ho's ideology on patriotic emulation, each agency, unit, and sector must promptly improve its organization and rectify its working style... In agencies, we must practice democracy, regularly carry out self-criticism and serious criticism, and help each other progress." We think that reviewing Uncle Ho's teachings on patriotic emulation is also a practical way to learn and follow Uncle Ho's moral example.
