Faith Volunteer Group supports female soldiers of Truong Son with 20 million VND

(Baonghean.vn) - On January 25, Faith Group visited the house of Ms. Tran Thi Hai, Hamlet 4, My Thanh - Yen Thanh, a particularly disadvantaged household in the commune, to visit, encourage and give 20 million VND.

Ms. Tran Thi Hai was a soldier in Truong Son during the anti-American resistance war. After being demobilized and returning to her hometown, she started a family. However, after 5 years of living together and having two children, a boy and a girl, her husband left the country and has been living abroad ever since. After years of hard work raising children, when her son, who was her spiritual support, grew up, followed his father and has not returned to visit his mother since then.

In 2006, she was diagnosed with spinal cord inflammation and from that moment on her legs atrophied and she lost the ability to move. Although she went to both provincial and central hospitals, because her family was poor and had no money for treatment, she had to accept being confined to a wheelchair.

In a dilapidated house, she lives alone. Her married daughter is also in difficult circumstances and cannot often come back to help her mother with meals, so with the support of neighbors, she still crawls on her hands to cook for herself every day, and also increases production to earn more money for medicine.

During the rainy season, due to her poor health, she could only lie in bed, unable to cook or take care of herself. During harvest time, when neighbors could not come over to help, she sometimes had to go hungry for two days.

Although the amount of support is not large, the volunteer group hopes that with the support of the community, she can repair her house and have a more fulfilling Tet.
