According to MXV, coffee prices fell in yesterday's trading session due to two main reasons. Exchange rate fluctuations and positive weather conditions in major producing countries such as Brazil and Vietnam.

In Vietnam, the Central Highlands region has seen some light rains over the past week. However, these weather conditions have not adversely affected the growth of coffee plants. Currently, the coffee berries have grown and the plants have good water tolerance, helping coffee gardens continue to grow steadily.

Some coffee gardens in Buon Ma Thuot (Dak Lak) have begun to harvest early berries with low yields. Other areas are also experiencing early harvests but with insignificant volumes.

However, farmers reported that this year's coffee trees have grown very well. They expect the upcoming main harvest to yield high yields.

On the London Stock Exchange, the online price of Robusta coffee futures for September 2025 delivery reached $4,599/ton, down slightly by 0.07% ($3/ton) from yesterday. The November 2025 futures contract increased by 0.68% ($30/ton) to $4,429/ton.

On the New York Stock Exchange, the price of Arabica coffee for September 2025 delivery increased by 1.86% (7.1 US cents/pound) compared to yesterday, to 389.3 US cents/pound. The contract for December 2025 delivery increased by 0.76% (2.8 US cents/pound), to 373.15 US cents/pound.

Coffee expert Nguyen Quang Binh explained the decline in coffee prices due to a number of factors. On the supply side, Brazil received significant rainfall, reducing concerns about the risk of a poor harvest in the upcoming season.

Coffee prices fell sharply on September 3, with Robusta hitting a one-week low, according to Barchart. Heavy rains in Brazil eased concerns about the flowering crop, putting downward pressure on prices. Robusta inventories on ICE fell to a one-month low of 6,552 lots, while arabica inventories fell to a 1-1/2-year low of 699,404 bags.

The tariff situation also has an impact. A US court has declared the reciprocal tariffs illegal, but President Trump has appealed. The tariffs will remain in place until a final ruling is made.

The uncertainty grew as the US administration asked the Supreme Court for an emergency ruling on tariffs that were rejected by an appeals court last week. "This decision could completely change the economic picture if it goes against the president's interests, and it would undermine the independence of the Fed - a crucial issue," said Ilya Spivak, an expert.
