On National Highway 7A, through My Thanh commune, districtYen Thanh,Recently, piles of garbage have appeared on the roadside, with tons of garbage accumulating on the road every day, causing environmental pollution and posing a potential risk of traffic accidents. A local resident who often passes by here reported, "When it rains, black garbage flows out onto the road, and when it's sunny, the stench is so strong that it even spreads into residential areas." Along National Highway 7A, through Cong Thanh Commune, we also saw two garbage dumps along the road, emitting a foul smell and causing an unsightly appearance.

Representative of Yen Thanh District Department of Natural Resources and Environment said: Currently, Yen Thanh has 3 factories.waste treatmentsmall scale in Van Thanh, Tang Thanh, Minh Thanh communes, the rest collects and treats waste at Nghi Yen waste treatment plant. The problem now is that most communes have not planned waste collection points, leading to the situation in some localities where waste is collected and encroached on the roadside. District areaDien ChauCurrently, the situation of rural waste is also alarming. For example, along National Highway 1A, the section going to Dien Hong commune, waste is dumped by people right along the road for about 100 meters. In addition to household waste, old household items are also thrown here, but what is especially dangerous is the type of mirrors and broken glass that people dump on the roadside.

According to the report of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Dien Chau District: All waste in Dien Chau District is collected and treated at Nghi Yen Waste Treatment Plant (Nghi Loc). However, there is still a situation where some people dump waste on the roads and along the river banks. The district is gradually directing the communes to rectify this situation.

Also in the above situation, Do Luong district has many spontaneous waste collection points. For example, in Nam Son commune, people collect waste on the road near the cemetery and burn it, causing serious environmental pollution.

Mr. Tran Hoang Anh - Head of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Do Luong district said: The problem of waste collection in Do Luong is very difficult, currently there is 1 unit collecting waste for 16 communes in the area to carry out landfill at the temporary landfill of Hong Son commune. The remaining 17 communes handle the waste themselves by burying waste in the area, or collecting and burning waste manually. In the long term, the district is looking for solutions to collect and treat waste effectively.

The problem of rural waste being dumped along the roadside also occurs in many other areas such as Quynh Luu district, Hoang Mai town, Hung Nguyen, Nam Dan... but there is currently no solution to completely handle it. Rural waste is directly affecting human health and the environment.

According to experts, to overcome this situation, it is recommended that authorities at all levels, departments and sectors actively participate, and provide a mechanism and support policies to encourage organizations and individuals to participate in collecting and treating waste.

Communes and towns need to speed up the planning and construction of waste collection points for transport to centralized treatment points. At the regional and district levels, it is necessary to research and establish projects to build new ones; upgrade and renovate sanitary waste treatment and burial points with synchronous technical infrastructure to gradually and completely solve the problem of rural waste.
