In May, a fall left a 53-year-old man in Da Nang with two broken ribs and a foreign object piercing his chest. It was not until he arrived at the hospital that doctors realized it was a glass bottle.

Doctors performed an X-ray, and the diagnostic imaging results showed a glass bottle lying inside the victim’s chest with the bottle’s head facing down. To penetrate the body, the bottle had broken two of the victim’s ribs.

The fetus is in the spleen.

The woman went to a hospital in Hanoi in early December with a large abdominal mass that looked like she was pregnant. Ultrasound scans did not detect a fetus in the uterus, however, blood tests showed a very high pregnancy index. A general examination, ultrasound, and abdominal scan were performed and the fetus was unexpectedly found in the spleen.

World literature has only recorded 9 similar cases. In this case, it was an ectopic pregnancy, if left for a long time, the fetus would rupture, endangering life.

2 year old baby got spoon stuck in throat

The accident happened in January. The child’s family said that when they heard the child scream and fall, the spoon was stuck in his throat. Panicked, the child’s parents immediately pulled the spoon out.

At Children's Hospital 1 (HCMC), the baby's neck and chest were swollen, suspected to be caused by internal injuries. After examination, doctors noted that the skin inside the neck and chest was compressed by air. This is not the first time doctors have received an accident caused by a child falling while sucking on household items.

Iron rod pierced from calf to thigh

The patient was admitted to the hospital in April with a round iron rod the size of a finger and more than half a meter long still piercing her left leg. At the Emergency Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Orthopedic Hospital, the 15-year-old girl from Binh Tan District was conscious, but the injury left doctors shuddering.

The patient said the accident happened when he was riding his motorbike, when he turned the corner, he braked suddenly and fell into a pile of iron bars from a construction site on the side of the road. The force of the slide caused an iron bar to pierce his thigh.

Wife cut off penis and threw it into canal

Suspecting that her husband had a mistress, the wife waited until he was fast asleep, then used a knife to cut off and throw her husband's 'private part' into a canal near their house. The incident happened in Tan Thanh, Long An in February, causing the 39-year-old husband to be hospitalized in a state of blood-soaked private parts. Doctors were able to provide emergency care, but the patient was left "disabled" for life because he could not be reattached.

Leeches live in the lungs all year without knowing

A 31-year-old man caught a leech from his nose while going to a stream, but he didn't know that another one had quietly crawled into his lungs. The patient came to Cho Ray Hospital (HCMC) in a state of frequent coughing up of fresh blood. Endoscopy results showed that the amount of blood was flowing from wounds in the trachea. "We continued to follow the bleeding site to find the cause and discovered a leech about 5 cm long sucking blood," said a doctor.

Swallowed an iron bar to escape drug rehabilitation camp

At District 2 Hospital (HCMC), a male drug rehabilitation inmate named Nguyen complained of severe stomach pain. Imaging results showed two iron bars piercing his stomach wall.

The iron bar caused mucosal edema and bleeding in the stomach wall. The patient was immediately transferred to the operating room. According to some prison guards, to escape confinement, prisoners often find ways, including faking illness to be taken to the emergency room and then escaping from the hospital.

Sewing needle stuck through chest into heart

A rare case in the world happened to an 8th grade student in Binh Phuoc. The boy was hospitalized with difficulty breathing and sharp pain in his heart. A few months before, the patient was lying on a pillow when a sewing needle pierced his chest, but when he removed it, the needle broke in half.

Doctors at Children's Hospital 1 (HCMC) said that imaging tests showed that the baby had pericardial effusion. A chest opening search did not find any foreign objects, until a CT scan revealed a needle-shaped object in the left heart area.

Baby coughs trumpet

Every time he coughed, the boy made a 'toe toe' sound, a strange phenomenon that lasted for many months. Seeing that his son's cough and trumpet sound did not improve, the father took the boy from Long An to Ho Chi Minh City for treatment. At Children's Hospital 1, doctors had to use 3D reconstruction imaging technology to discover the cause: the trumpet core in the right lung. Before that, the boy was playing with a plastic trumpet and choked on it.
